Ok, so i have given this alot of thought of late about how we would reboot a franchise like X-Men.

I came up with several problems. one being that the x-men franchise is to vast, we have over 50 decades of stories that we just simply couldnt explore in one let alone three movies of a rebooted franchise.

Alot of the problem stems with having each movie it's own story at the same time continuing the saga. It worke for X-Men 1 and 2, But 3 really messed it up. Although as i have stated before i liked X-Men 3, but felt it was too different a feel to consider it x-men 3.

So i thought lets break it down. What would all fans want, how many rebooted movies should be made and how will it fit in together.

I went throw several genre's of movies to see large continations of films. Aliens, Die Hard, Pirates Of The Carribbean, Matrix and so on and so on. But with no luck.

Then i remembered. Lord Of The Rings... Essentially one giant story that they had to make three movies about it... huge cast with a massive budget and a director who would make it look good and i thought, thats what we need. Lord of the rings has been rebooted several times in the past. Id say its most recent reincarnation on the big screen was largely succesful.

So what kind of epic story would you tell that would need to told over three movies. Well this is where it all became relatively simple. It's the classic "Humans vs Mutants" story that has played out throughtout the comics for years.

Now you could say we already had this with x-men 1 to 3. Yes but each of those movies were hold upon there own.

Think of it this way,

Magneto is waging a war on human kind. Human kind are prepairing for war against the mutants. To stop this war, we have the X-Men that are caught in the middle. Through in a few intermixing storylines...

Think of the way you could introduce certain aspects of the story.
Xavier leading the x-men, Cyclop learning to be a leader. Xavier falls and the team find help with Wolverine. However the humans are being manipulated by two different parties one being the hellfire club the other being Mr.Sinister who has his own personal interests. Then we have Magneto upon his utopia of Genosha. all coming to a final battle in movie 3 where the world is reshaped...

Personally "The House Of M" would be an excellent reboot for the franchise.

1. I think there are like 5 reboot threads already
2. You do have some good ideas
3. The reboot should not start with House of M

Im not saying it should start with the House of M... what im saying is it should be as Epic as the house of M... you know a big chunk of story that involves alot of different characters and interactions where you follow the story of several major characters on different journeys.

Simple. Let the source material be your guide. Start from the beginning and move forward, implementing the already tested elements from the books that resonate with people best.

At this point the only way there will be a reboot is if Disney one day gets the rights back. Fox will not want to lose Hugh Jackman as Wolverine if they reboot it

This is the only way I see a reboot happening.

This is why in a way I do want Marvel to get the rights back and in a way I don't. I can't imagine anyone else as a better Wolverine.

Jackman has his spin-offs. Fox is already moving on without him otherwise.

I second that. I loathe Fox but love Hugh's Wolverine!

Jackman was too tall and too handsome for me, and he was never written with as much ferocity as the Wolverine of the comic except for the beginning of X1. He was more of a leading man heroic and handsome Wolverine, which fits in with the fact they made him the main character of the films.

Jackman's Wolverine was just an interpretation of the character for me and I would be happy to see another interpretation.

It's amazing how this simple concept needs to be explained to certain studios....

Pretty simple:

1. The first trilogy or set of films lead up to the Phoenix Saga.

2. The second trilogy or set o films lead up to Apocalypse.

Tons of character moments, situations and action which have defined the X-men and made them so popular.

I think you are on to something, I hope someone from Fox is reading this...:xmen:

The day they do X4, Ill support a reboot.

but not before.

:)

 :cmad:  :hehe:

If they reboot Jackman as wolvie....

It's not even that (seriously, he's done 4 already and there's a 5th on the way)...it's just the whole reboot thing is already exhausting itself. Not every movie needs a do-over. I'd rather see more new films instead of constantly rehashing the same franchises.

and I know. I mean, he can't play him forever..but let's see what's on the rosters :

Spider-Man
Daredevil
Fantastic Four
Jurassic Park [Semi-Reboot, I think(?)]
and isn't first class going to be one too?

First Class is going to be a prequel, not a reboot. At least that's what it is right now.

Fortunately, I really doubt FF and DD will be made anytime soon. But it's funny how the term reboot only really popped up a couple of years ago and it's already outworn it's welcome.

And if they'd gotten them right the first time, they wouldn't have to reboot them. :cwink:
