There’s one thing that bothers me about this Ep that I don’t think has been discussed is that they have already established the extent of Clark’s Powers, So essentially there was no reason why he couldn’t have saved Lana.

When Adam fires a shotgun blast at Lana, Clark is talking on the phone with her and hears the shot and is able to superspeed clear across town and intercept the bullet. When desperate housewife dude plays sniper and tries to take out Lex, Clark runs from SV to Metropolis and is there to catch the bullet. And during the Lana as Vampire Ep, Chloe is on the phone with Clark and with the mere mention of Lana being in danger he sprints from his home to her dormroom (Metropolis) in mid-sentence.

Do you mean to tell me that with all the countless times that Lana has been in trouble, that Clark hearing Lana’s Voice wouldn’t just race over and stop whatever is effecting Lana?

I don’t buy it. Watch it again and tell if you think that Clark would just stand there listening or would he race over and save her.

 

It's not that Clark "couldnt" have saved her, it's that he didnt know he had to save her until it was too late. Clark didnt know that a bus was going to run into her. All he knew was that Lex was following her, until of course he heard the crash over the phone.

In the examples you listed, each time Clark knew about the danger involved beforehand, so he had reason to superspeed over.

True but it would stand to reason that when she first screams he would have simply sped over to see what was up. He didn't leave until seconds after he heard the crash. Either he was in shock and couldn't react or he just didn't care. Both of which I don't think was the case. The only other reason is just terrible writing. If the scene went like this. Lana calls Chloe and tells her that she's in trouble, Lex is drunk and following her..."Get Clark I'm on Rte. 40". Chloe then tells Clark who arrives seconds too late. Then I buy it. But him being on the phone with her and hearing (Superhearing) everything going on would have reacted. It's out of character

After rewatching the episode a 3rd time (yes, i know 3rd) I couldn't help but notice Lana's phone saying Lex Luthor, why not just Lex I mean how many Lex's does Lana know?

Does she know a Lex Smith at college or something.

Yay, me! I told (threatened) some of my coworkers who hadn't watched the show before to watch Reckoning. Today, one of the girls told me that she watched it and LOVED it. She's adding it to her Tivo rotation.

She was a little confused about some of the characters, particularly who Chloe was. I had to laugh when she asked.."So, why does the blonde girl get to know his secret, but not the girl that he wants to marry?"

Oy.

But I'm happy.. someone else I can blab about the episode with at work now.

You know I wonder if, even though they may lose some die hard "Clana Fans" and others for whatever reason that Reckoning makes them stop watching, they may draw in new fans who tuned in because it was the 100th episode and were actually impressed by how good it was.
