From this layman's perspective, I would say that it has something to do with the heat and pressure that he is applying to the rock. Like when you heat a piece of coal over a fire, it glows.

I'm sure our Resident Physics Professors will be able to give you a better explanation though. ;)

    LOL!

I wear it loud and proud.

(which is even geekier, come to think of it. :O )

Heat-producing pressure..that would be my call too. And not to complain, but as long as he was compressing coal, would it have been so hard to start with a little bigger piece? That looked half-karat max to me. I think Superman could do just a tetch better.

At least it wasnt like the rock that Clark gave Lana in Superman III.

And if you think about it, it would probably incite some suspicion if Clark gave her a bigger diamond that.

You mad at me about my post at the Planet.

    YES!!!!!!!! someone else notices!

and hulk, i agree with you when you said he knew of her dangers in Crisis and lex's danger in Extinction, however in Thirst, he did not, yet he manages to superspeed a HUGE distance in a split second.

i dont care how good anyone's response is to this, there is just no reason why clark didn't superspeed to lana's car ASAP.

Hee! Y'know, I've seen that episode a good five times already (maybe more), but when did Clark tell Lana he was Superman? :D

...musta been right after he told her he could fly and then shot lasers out of his eyes. :p

<- Wonders how many of those people actually *watch* the show. LOL ;)

    Funny clip.

Ya know the more I think about the teaser from Reckoning, the more I believe that it just has to be some sort of foreshadowing.

I'm putting my money down now, that Lana will find out before season's end. :) (Most likely on her own)

To be fair Pat, none of the pop culture pundits on Best Week Ever actually watch the things they comment on. (At least not in the sense that VH1 gets a bunch of fans into a room and have them banter about whatever's on their minds). The producers decide what's relevant in the pop culture zeitgeist that week and inform the talking heads after the fact.

I think the commentators on a show like BWE represent the general public's perceptions fairly accurately. And the fact that they refer to Welling as SUPERMAN only lends credence to the fact that, in most of the general public's eyes, the dude IS Superman.

It's an actual show? I had no idea.

Y'know, there was a time when I used to be pretty well versed in TV programming. Of course, that was back when there were only three networks and "cable" was what you used when rabbit ears or a roof antenna didn't work, but I'll spare yas. ;)

Well, no argument from this peanut gallery. The general public certainly doesn't think "Clark Kent," that's fer sure.

    Clark who?
    Superman.
    Oh, right! [slaps head]

    LOL :p

Y'know, even Wainwright called Welling Superman on The Fog's commentary track - and he used the label in context with what was going on in the scene. "Superman rescues the damsel in distress," or something along those lines. It was pretty funny. :D

Give me a good reason to give you a shout out, other than the fact that you're annoying, and I might consider it even if it's only to shut you up.

Oh, brother... So not what I had in mind.

    Forget it, muscles.

I haven't even turned in my Vengeance review yet (getting over a nasty cold and my back is really bothering me) so you can feel free to ask again after Tomb airs for me to say no again.
