I never owned a Gamecube and since the Wii will play the old games I was wondering what games I should get. I will probably get Mario Sunshine just because I like Mario games so much. What was the Zelda game for the GC like?

Zelda was good, don't let the cartoony graphics put you off from getting it. Both the Metroids were great too. Both Pikmins are a lot of fun, Batallion Wars was another good one. I'd say Resident Evil 4, but the Wii version is better.

Smash is obviously a great choice, but with Brawl coming out soon, only for nostalgia. Metroid, Zelda, and Paper Mario are my recommendations.

Madden is 100 times better on Gamecube than it is on 360 if you're a fan of the franchise mode and superstar mode.

No Gamecube collection is complete without:

Super Mario Sunshine
Paper Mario and the Thousand Year Door
Metroid Prime
Metroid Prime 2: Echoes
the Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
the Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Star Fox: Assault (the land missions suck but the flying is fun as hell).
Super Smash Bros. Melee (not necessary now because of Brawl)

I gotta try out Pikmin someday. I'd recommend the Resident Evil series on the Gamecube but Resident Evil 4 on the Wii is far superior to the Gamecube version and I have a feeling Capcom is going to go in a remake frenzy on the Wii with the rest of the series.

I've heard that from a few others. Do you guys really think their are going to make RE2 and 3 like they did with the first game on Gamecube? I would love it if they did but it just seems like a waste of time/money.

Why get the GC version of Twilight Princess?

It wouldn't be that much of a waste of time as the games are already complete, they would just need to tweak the controls, the hard parts done. I'm not sure it would be a waste of money either, again the hard parts done, I'm not sure how Resident Evil 4 sales are, but I'd imagine they're decent enough to consider more ports.

Agree with this list. I never got into Metroid Prime though. I thought some of the SFA land missions were alright. The Sauria one was pretty good. The others were so-so.

Melee is unnecessary. Get it after Brawl when the price will drop (it's still only $30 after 6 years).

Considering the success of Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles on the Wii, I wouldn't be surprised at all if Capcom decided to remake the entire Resident Evil series on the Wii. After playing Resident Evil 4, the series is literally made for the system.

And I don't think it'll be like the REmake on the Gamecube, I think it'll be a remake that plays more like Resident Evil 4.

Resident Evil 4's sales on the Wii are over 1 million. But it won't be a waste of time basically upgrading the graphics on par with Resident Evil 4 and having the gameplay more like Resident Evil 4's.

A very interesting article concerning the Resident Evil series on the Wii:

Interview with Capcom’s Masachika Kawata reveals that he’s interested in remaking the first three Resident Evil’s on Wii in RE4 style.

According to an interview with Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles producer, Masachika Kawata, with AMN affiliate site Jeux-France, and kindly translated by NeoGAF member Dascu, there is a possibility that we will be seeing more Resident Evil remakes on Wii. From the sound of things, Kawata has expressed interest in remaking one of (or, all of) the first three titles for Wii; using the Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition style gameplay (and, assumedly, engine). Also confirmed was that Umbrella Chronicles will not feature online co-op.

When questioned why Resident Evil 5 was not currently in development for Wii, Kawata revealed that RE:UC and RE4: Wii Edition will be tests to gauge how well the series can perform on Wii.

In addition, Kawata and his team working on Umbrella Chronicles are still looking into how they can exploit the Wii remote functionalities and/or Nunchuck for the title. He states that it will be more than just a simple on-rails light-gun game. And, as we already know, Umbrella Chronicles is said to tie up loose ends in the Resident Evil storyline. Regarding which titles will be featured in Umbrella Chronicles, only the original Resident Evil, Resident Evil 0 and Resident Evil 3 were mentioned; no word on if Resident Evil 2 will also make an appearance.

Additionally, there are no current plans for any Resident Evil titles for the PSP. However, Masachika Kawata and other veteran staff members would like to continue the Dino Crisis series; unfortunately, nothing is planned at the moment.

Finally, the interview with Kawata revealed that more information regarding Resident Evil 5 will be shown soon.

Ladies and gentlemen, start your speculation. We’ll have more on all of the above when it’s available.

And right now things are looking good, Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition's sales are so far 1.3 million (compared to the 1.66 million for the Gamecube and 1.91 million for the Playstation 2), and beating Capcom's expectations of 420,000 units. Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles has so far sold 670,000 units

Ok, sorry about that, I got confused by what people meant. I didn't stop to think, redo them on Wii meaning, same game but using Wii controls. I thought you guys meant remaking RE2, 3 and maybe Code Veronica like they remade RE 1, full graphics overhaul lol.

MGS: Twin Snakes was a great game. Easy, but loads of fun.

I had a lot of fun with Wind Waker, despite all the mixed feelings on it, it was a great Zelda game.

Like was said, Smash Bros. is an insanely fun game, but Brawl comes out in a month.

It would be a full graphics overhall considering that Capcom has expressed interest in remaking the first three Resident Evil games with the RE4: Wii Edition style gameplay and graphics engine.

Resident Evil 4.

That is all.

Getting the Gamecube version Resident Evil 4 is downright stupid. The Wii version is vastly superior to an already awesome game. Better controls, has the graphic superiority of the Gamecube version, and has all the Playstation 2 extras such as 16:9 support, extra weapons, and Separate Ways.

Not only that, listening to WHF on Gamecube advice is dumb too. There are far more games on the Gamecube that are worthwhile than just Resident Evil 4.

I like the Gamecube version :cmad:

I own both versions and I prefer the Ganecube version, The Wii controls felt tacked on to me.

To the OP, I recommend Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem, Amazing game with a deep and original story.

Not entirely, he's very knowledgable when it comes to the Xbox brand and I would gladly take advice from him when I wonder about it (like when I was considering getting one).

He's just very biased against non-Microsoft consoles. Especially Nintendo.

Mario Kart: Double Dash
Viewtiful Joe
Ikaruga
F-Zero GX

All the Nintendo games that have been mentioned so far.

SSB Melee
Resident Evil 4
Mario Kart 4
Animal Crossing
Sonic 2 Adventure Battle

I'm all for that if they want to make 2, 3 and maybe Code Veronica like the remake of RE1. I just figured it would be too costly for them.

As for what games to get for GC, a lot of people already mentioned a number of great games. Not sure if anyone already said this but if you like horror type games, Eternal Darkness is damn good.

Resident Evil 0
Resident Evil
Resident Evil 2
Resident Evil 3
Resident Evil: Code Veronica
Super Mario Sunshine
Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem

by the way, remakes of any of the old RE games with RE4: Wii style game play and controls would be fantastic companion pieces to the originals.

It really wouldn't be that costly to remake the Resident Evil series since developing for the Wii is rather cheap compared to the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 and the sales of Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles proved that there is a market out there for the Resident Evil series on the Wii.
