Anyone prefer this color scheme over the red and blue?

Aloha,
Although I have the book, that picture is worth buying the book again. But where is the Black other than the webbing?
Spidey rules

Always have done, I loved it when Erik Larson totally shamelessly went for pure red and black.

You know what though? In an interview I got from a book titled; 'the silver age of comics,' Ditko himself stressed that the point of the blue was to highlight Peter's body shape and muscle while coming out of dark spaces. Black was initially supposed to always be a key factor of making him look intimidating while coming out of the shadow's.

Over time, depending on the team, the shade of the blue and the use varied.

Personally, with all of the films faults, I think as time went on Raimi and his team managed to use the initial key Ditko ideas for Spidey well in a film translation

I'll defenitley be buying this! The photo is just so fantastic as well.

i dunno it might be cool to change him, BUT I THINK IF THEY DO, IT SHOULD BE FOREVER! & never go back to blue

I jsut wanted to let you guys know that the cover to Marvels is going to be a poster, too. It's a must have on my list.

Already got Marvels back in the mid nineties, i don't love it.

Alex Ross, meh take him or leave him.

I don't really see the black either, looks like shiny dark blue spandex.

I've got the HC and individual issues of Marvels. IMO it's the best thing to come out of the 90s comic scene.

:yay:

always prefered the ditko spiderman to any other, he just made more sence in red and black with webbing under the arms.

When's it going to be available? I'm really digging the image, nice recreation of John Romita SR.'s same piece.

While the black looks good, I'll always love Spidey's red'n blues... :word:

:yay:

spidey is supposed to look like a skinny wimp, imo, the red and blue always makes him look more muscular, it may not be this way with all artist but it is for most.

In a weird way, I totally agree with you.

When it went bright blue during the Romita era, he looked a bit too 'all American,' hero if you know what I mean

I love the STORY of Marvels, and I respect the time Alex Ross puts into his work, but I'm not an uber-fan of his work. Also, his attitude towards comic seems quite crappy.

"I will NEVER paint the hook-handed Aquaman".
"I will NEVER paint the Wally West Flash".
"I will NEVER paint the Kyle Raynor Green Lantern."
"Spider-Man 2 was just dumb."(despite the fact that his fat ass gets a royalty check every time it is shown or sold)

Also, all of his women look like old men, to me. All of his men look like old men, too.
