Ok so my Xbox red ringed for the second time last week and I called MS and the return box is on the way, but taking a closer look at my 360 it looks as though the warranty sticker has been moved and now it looks like i removed it. Will MS charge me for this or will they simply look past it and send me a new 360?

Just thought I would let everyone know, although sounds stupid it does work.

My friends X-Box 360 broke just like yours, it got the red ring of death and everything. When he went to gamestop to see what he could do the guy told him to play his Xbox 360 with a towel wrapped around it and it should fix itself.

I know it sounds crazy but we wrapped his Xbox 360 up in a towel and turned it on and for a little bit we were skeptical, but then it started to play just fine and he didn't have the problem.

Just thought I would let everyone know this little trick if they don't know it already. :)

My friend Carlos did the towel thing, and it's been working perfectly for like 3 months.

How does the towel thing work? And although I know consoles don't get hot enough but still, isn't that fire hazardous?

I got it last summer.

I wouldnt think it would be a problem then. As long as that barcode on the back is still intact, i would imagine youd be fine, but im not 100% on that.

Also, dont wrap ur 360 in a towel. Just send it to MS and theyll take care of you.

Ok cool. How long do they take to get them back now?

hahaha, the towel trick works according to that Yaaay article. Why send it in and have to wait, when you can just wrap in the towel and not have to wait all that time and trouble to send it in? You should atleast try it.

I sent it out today and i'll keep everyone posted.

Just out of curiosity Haz,..Did you call and speak to someone at Microsoft? When you told them the warranty sticker was removed,it wasnt a problem?

The towel trick is only temporary, to be sure you'll get your xbox fixed just send it in to MS.

Most likely, companies will do anything they can not to send you a new product in these instances.

so do you think that they'll send me a new one or a referbished one or charge me?

Charge you. If you have that warranty sticker missing, they safely assume that you bought a used XBox from someone, unless you have some sort of other documentation that you do in fact have a warranty.

well, the stickers not missing it just looks like its been moved around. and they have documentation that it's my console since the sent it to me the first time it happened.

In that case, you should be all right. Give it a shot.

alright sweet! I really hope they just give me a new console. The analog sound went out on my console some how and i havent been able to fix it too. I can get the Digital Optical Sound to work just fine, but i dont have any digital optical stuff at my house. :cmad:
