Reese Witherspoon and Sofia Vergara are set to team up for a buddy comedy called Don't Mess with Texas. Deadline reports that Universal Pictures today took the rights to the original spec script by David Feeney and John Quaintance.

The story finds a cop and her prisoner forced to work together when they find themselves being chased by a town of crooked cops.

Witherspoon recently starred in Jeff Nichol's Mud and can soon be seen in a diverse range of projects like Atom Egoyan's West Memphis Three tale Devil's Knot, Brian Kirk's science fiction romance Passengers and the Paul Thomas Anderson directed Thomas Pynchon adaptation Inherent Vice.

Vegara, meanwhile, continues to star on "Modern Family" and can be seen coming up in The Smurfs 2 and Robert Rodriguez's Machete Kills.
Great pair.....and lets not forget about Reese! :rimshot:

Ahem, I wonder which one will be the cop and which one the prisoner.

This is beyond... :o

I was hoping Reese played the con; I can actually see her channeling channeling her inner middle-america hoodlum and basically becoming a female Steve Zahn.

Also, Sofia Vergera as a police detective. Tailored pantsuit and black leather carcoat.

But they went with lazy casting. Of course, the anglo is the police officer, and the latina is obviously connected with crime.

This will probably suck but I read an interview with the two of them in EW and I have to admit they were hilarious.

I want this to do well. It looks like some mindless fun plus I love how they keep on going back to the age and height jokes. :funny:

The interview's probably funnier than the actual movie.

And it's directed by Anne Fletcher... big pass.

:ninja:

I loved The Proposal. #SorryNotSorry
