This will probably be the most entertaining movie of 2007.

When I think of michael Bay I see HUGE operatic action and intense the ballsy kind :-)cmad: ) drama and at least a million bullets fired by the end of the movie. If you're not exausted emotionally and physically (yes physically) after a Michael Bay movie, you didn't just see a michael bay movie. You were in the wrong theater.

That's why I immediately did a backflip when he was revealed as the director for a transformers movie. Three words flashed in my brain: Epic, Ballsy, Operatic and that's what I think of transformers. Woooooooooooooooo Michael bay doing a transformers movie? I'm in line right now!

Then we saw the robot designs...:csad:

This was when I realized the man has no clue what the word 'iconic' means. That's what I think of the original bot designs.

So of course I'm dissapointed by them, but now I'm thinking that still doesn't change Michael bay's style. Even if megatron is an eyesore, this movie will probably be: Epic. Ballsy. and Operatic.

Ergo, even though my fanboy side tells me I should expect a lame movie, I'm still hyped for it because it's a frickin michael bay tranformers movie. Is this just me?

that's pretty much how i feel. the movie's going to be beautiful to look at, no doubt, and it'll manipulate you into cheering for who bay wants you to cheer for and hating who he wants you to hate, because those things are what bay does best. but a lot of the cool, original, scifi aspects of transformers have been replaced by really generic, cliche'd things. that's the real dissapointment.

i hope he wants us to cheer for the autobots, but knowing bay he'll make the decepticons the heroes!!!!!!!! LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!

OMG!!!!! LOLOLOLOL!!!! bay is soooooo lame!!!!! could he possibly know less about the transformers!?!?!?!?!?!?! WHAT A LOSER!!!!!!!

This is pretty much how I feel about it too. Would I prefer the movie designs looks more like the G1 designs? Of course, well...maybe. You gotta think about the cartoon though. Its a cartoon that cements itself in a certain place in time because of the vehicles the characters are based on, and the sci-fi elements. Automobiles and planes ect. inherently change over time. The same can be said for the sci-fi elements, namely the robot designs. Our thoughts on the way alien robots should look will continue to constantly evolve over time, look at how we imagined them in the 50's. If we were going to get a perfect G1 adaptation we would have had to get it 20 years ago. I'm sure we can all agree its better they didn't untill now when it can be done realistically. Thats the trade-off though. G1 aesthetics and certain story elements for a real shot at making movie that can do the concept justice.

I dont think Bay is that bad of a movie maker, but I do think he needs to understand a few things. So far I am happy with how the movie is coming along, cept a few things but who am I to judge. In the end all my *****ing and sqauking could of been for nothing.

same way i feel.......... but no matter the director, this movie was pretty much bound to be a bit lame in terms of story.......
though i do like the designs... and they should be fun to look at

So Spider-Man 3, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, & Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix don't have a chance?

"This will probably be the most entertaining movie of 2007."

"Probably" isn't exactly concrete and leaves ample room for others to pass by.

I agree wholeheartedly with Wesyeed...except for the most anticipated movie thing. There are some really heavyhitters coming out next year like all those listed above and don't forget The Dark Knight, F4 and Ghostrider. But yeah, I was pretty glad when Bay first got the job, but then I saw Megs n Starscream and vomited in my mouth a little bit.

LOL. Yeah. This movie might have a very good opening but like Hulk and Godzilla will quickly disappear IF word of mouth is bad. In other words it'll make its money back... and that's all Bay and Co really care about.

I for one agreed completely with Greg from Yahoo Movies when he reported that Bay had been picked as director over a year ago:

"I am disappointed, frankly, and this movie just dropped, nay, *plummetted*, on my own personal anticipation scale. Have most of Bay's movies done fairly well at the box office? Absolutely. Have any of them been accepted as being very "good" by either critics or fans? By my estimation, nope, not by a long shot. Bay's films are loud, oddly lit, too quickly cut (with shaky camera movement at that), and pretty much represent everything I think is wrong with big-budget Hollywood films."

"I think this will probably end up being a very "Fast and the Furious"-ish movie, focusing on the human characters (well, that's already been confirmed), so the Transformers will mostly appear as "talking cars and planes"

Seems to me that that last paragraph is exactly what we're getting.

the meaning of "paragraph" sure has been watered down to being one sentence:(

That pretty much says it all. The Transformers will just be used as a gimmick--a boy and his incredible talking car.

sigh....

Another icon bites the dust.......who's next.....GIJOE?
