Saw this movie for the first time a couple of weeks ago and thought it was awesome.
What did you people think of it?

I loved the score. Awesomeness. In pure form. The movie itself was good but it's way too emotionally draining. I might watch it again with people I recommend it to, but alone, nah. Don't feel like watching something so depressing.

Yeah. I felt like **** after I first watched it, but after watching it again it becomes less disturbing and I could appreciate the film making more. The score was perfect.

Great film, one of Aronofsky's best pictures

ImRonBurgundy? You don't need to result in vulgur language

good movie, slightly weak film...

I guess since I don't partake in some of these drugs, i found it hard to relate to their struggles. Even the mother of the main dude didn't gain my sympathy for her condition.

and the ending i felt was anti climatic.

As for the topic, I haven't seen it, but it's next on my Netflix queue thing, so I should soon. :yay:

I remember his post going something like,

"Three words:
Ass to ass.

[actual thoughts on the film]"

What vulgar language?

The ending its just a punch in the face. One of the best movies I ever seen.

Was referring to the context I said it in.

Morg mate it was a quote from the movie, what would probably be one of the most disturbing scenes in a highly disturbing film. I see plenty of worse posts around the board, that are completely pointless (unlike mine), but the only thing different is they have ****ing or **** which makes it okay does it? The quote (better not say it, might get my post deleted) is exactly what you say it is, vulgar. It is the pinnacle that Jennifer Connolly's character will go to just to get a fix. The same length Jared Leto's character went to by shooting up into his obviously bung arm.

We're discussing a R rated film, which deals with a pretty sensitive topic. In my post probably should have said more on the topic. I can see why you think it is vulgar. But can't see why it is immature or an irrelevant post. Not sure why it was deleted

I've never been addicted to crack, television or had an arm amputated, neither have I participated in a double ***** fest, I've not driven to Florida, been in prison, have pawned my mom's tv for smack money, sold drugs or had a clothing design shop
I can assure you that in my 30 years living here I haven't had sex with that Wayan brother, been to the nuthouse, had electroshock teraphy, been in stupid diets, smoked blunts made from cigar paper, sold my body for a fix, had the writer of the novel from which everything's been adapted scream extremely racist remarks at my while I mash potatoes and puke all over them

that didn't stop me from enjoying the movie, appreciating the exquisite way in which it was made and the overall production

an excelent movie is an excelent movie, regardles if you identify or relate to the situations or characters in it

I felt the movie went out of its way to have trippy visuals. Halfway through I was saying, "Yes I get it. You like the formalist approach to filmmaking. Can we start with some characterization and story now?" I didn't find it brilliant. I didn't find it disturbing. I didn't find it depressing, and I sure as hell didn't find it entertaining. Overrated film.

One of the best movies ever(Get off the drugs, Walters!).

The knowledge that the Fountain will be better than Requiem and Pi combined is enough to make me crap my pants.

Crap.

THe movie is great.....but, it's the score by Clint Mansell and the Kronos Quartet (summer overture) that really sets the mood

I haven't seen this one, but it's on my netflix.

All gearing up towards seeing 'The Fountain' a little over a week from now.

So I saw this tonight, it's a tight and compelling film that has some truly amazing editing and sound work, but at it's heart it is a very powerful and moving film the eschews the techniques usually used to make us care about characters, with no "before" period, it starts bleak and then goes into a downward spiral.

At first i found it jarring how there was so little set up and such a linear story, but that was the point, it was stripped away to being about addiction alone, which mirrored the lives of the 4 main characters.

I am not sure i found it as depressing or disturbing as some but i did find it brilliant and sad.

Did anyone feel there might be hope for any of the characters at the end ?

I felt like Marian was soul destroyed and would only get worse and clearly Sarah was wrecked, but maybe Harry, carrying around a painful reminder of his addiction, could salvage some life, and Ty came out of it with the best chance of them all.

It was awful. The only good part about it was the music.
