Who hates Resident Evil 4?

...Me. The Pirate Lord hates it as a resident evil game...now if it were something not related to resident evil like...The Wacky Parasite-Terrorist Adventure, it'd make more sense and be more forgivable. It just seems terrible that Shinji Mikami, the man who gave us the wonderful remake of Resident Evil, could churn out this. It deviates from the established storyline and blows off the past games with a 6 minute cut scene.

A sorry excuse for an RE story for one, ultra-cheesy dialogue and the Weapons Peddler. As far as I'm concerned these are the only things I hate about RE4 (well...that and the lack of Claire but thats just self-indulgence). The system, the graphics and the Cutscene mini-games were great and should be mainstays. Do I hate it overall though? No. Did I wish Leon was dead? Definitely.

Its Japanese made. As far as Japan is concerned, 60s Travolta Dialogue is cool...but WTF ws that exchange with Salazar about?? "The Script?" What the F***?

It's a shame the dialogue took such a big hit, too. Because I thought the voice casting/acting was great.

The bad guys maybe. Leon and whatshername President's daughter were a little flat. Game really could have done without the Radio conversations. A little too MGS there. Gun-toting Rambo/Mercenaries Zombies felt WAY too forced

Well, Krauser had the best dialogue and voice acting of anyone, no question there. As for those little "codec moments" between Leon and Hunnigan, I guess the game could've done without that, it was a blatant copycat from Metal Gear Solid, but there was something to be salvaged there, if only their conversations actually added to the plot and moved the story forward...but they never really did, just chitterchatter.

It was a chance to show female gamers how smooth Leon "is" with the ladies. Yeah, Kennedy's as smooth as Dolly Parton is flat. Will agree with Krauser though, he did have a pretty straightforward role. If you ask me Mayday Mike had the best voice.

but ALL RE games have super cheesy dialouge, it's one of the things that makes them awesome...master of unlocking for f**ks sake man!

I picked this up earlier today, and it's very, very good. Back during the Gamecube days, I used to get maybe 60% hit accuracy per chapter...in this one I'm raking up 90-95% so far. The aiming with the wii-mote is much easier and flows very well. The using the trigger to ready and A to fire doesnt seem awkward at all. I also love that fact that if you dont feel like playing with the wii-mote you can plug your gamecube or classic controller in and bam, it's back to being RE4 from Gamecube...

I'll consider picking it up but I already bout it once (and beat it like 4 times) on Gamecube.

The parodies are okay. Barbie bits are hilarious.

I also don't get any hate for RE4. Sure it was a departure from the original formula. But that formula had gotten boring. While the first two (particularly RE2) were amazing, RE3 was pretty bad and while I enjoyed the remake I think Veronica and Zero were both pretty forgettable.

RE4 reinvented the franchise with just not hte best game in the series but one of the best games ever made.

I somewhat agree with you. I actually loved all of the originals except for Veronica (which was just incredibly hard, even for someone like I who had beat all the others, and somewhat boring...although finally going to real 3D backgrounds and having pans and such was awesome). And I do love RE4, but I do agree with the complaints that a few more connections to the older games would have been nice. Wesker and Ada were a nice throw in, but other than them an Leon it really had nothing to do with the old RE games. You could take out all the refferences to them and Umbrella, and release it under a different title, and no one would have ever thought it was a RE game. But it's still an incredible game. And since Umbrella Chronicles seems to be somehow dealing with the fall of the Umbrella corp, it might act as a nice transition between the old ones and the new.

People who don't like RE4 are monkeys that didn't properly evolve. There's a reason why it's the only game in the series that's mentioned as one of the greatest games ever made.


And I'm a huge RE fanboy. Heck I own RE2 on PSX, PC, DC and Gamecube.

BTW, Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition = OMG the sex, best game ever.

Yeah, I just got the wii edition and just got my first day off work in eleven days = ten hours straight and I'm loving it.

I guess people just expected more out of the voice acting because it's a modern installment compared to the PSX stuff, which kind of had an excuse for the corny dialogue. But still, that only detracted from the quality of the game on a minor level, this was undeniably one of the greatest additions to the series.

actually, the ps2 exclusive content is not in continuity, the gamecube exclusive ada missions are...but yes, it is worth getting again...trade in your copy for GC and use the money to help get this
