For Resident Evil fans and Wii owners this piece of news is going to be a wooden foot in the balls – Resident Evil 4 for the Wii is going to be an innocent title. That's right

boys and girls, limbs will no longer fall, blood won't be splattering here and there as you were used to and so on. Add this to the simplified control scheme and what do you get? A great survival-horror video game screwed up by the Wii.

Resident Evil 4 for the Wii, or Biohazard 4 as the game is also known, has been released for the Nintendo Wii in Japan on May 31st, retailing for just 3,900 yen, as NextGeneration reports. That's pretty damned cheap isn't it? But why do you think it's so cheap? It's only because the game has been severely censored, meaning it's going to be an innocent survival game for the wittle Wii.

But the game's case is still stamped with a sticker saying that "THIS GAME CONTAINS REALISTIC SCENES OF GRAPHIC VIOLENCE." Uuu! For what? All the blood and gore has been almost taken out from the game, headshots no longer kill and limbs can no longer be shot off. What is Capcom trying to do here, prove to kids that shooting someone in the head won't kill them? That sounds worse than killer head-shots. This is ridiculous! I mean, you want your kid to know that it's wrong to shoot people, but video games such as Biohazard 4 Wii tell him/her that shooting someone in the head won't exactly kill them, but just make them go Ow!

Needless to say, Capcom didn't even consider making it possible for adults to play the real thing. What, are they afraid of Jack Thompson or something? Guess that a simplified control scheme wasn't the worst that could happen to a great video game series being ported to the Wii. What's next, Halo 4 with rubber bullets?

Complete bull. You think you're funny or something?

Capcom wouldn't dumb down Resident Evil.
The Wii is already getting Manhunt 2, which is 5 times gorier than RE4.
Why would it be dumbed down from the Gamecube version, which was just as gory as RE is supposed to be?

Leave, troll.

I can't believe idiots still waste their time being anti-Nintendo. Talk about an inability to be an adult. The Wii is no more a kiddie system than the PS3. I hope that website's phony, because if that's their report, not only are the facts undoubtedly wrong, but there's a shocking lack of professionalism in the report. Aside from the subject matter of the report, it reeks of being written by an immature child who's anti-Nintendo.

I'd dearly love to know who they thought was going to believe them, when there's already video of RE4 for the Wii and it's just as gory as RE ever was. The idiots who are still anti-Nintendo are seriously pathetic.

first off calm down. Thereres no anti Nintentdo agenda here. I saw this article posted and posted it here. The censorship DOES exist, and thanks to GekigangerV for clarifying that its only going to be limited to the Japanese version

If there is any censorship it is indeed ******ed.

By the way, your sig is a complete contradiction of both statements.

it's only censored in Japan, where alot of games are censored. they dont care if you f**k a 13 year old there, but violence is a no-no :o

There's more to my opinion than just the base meaning of the statements.

BDB relates to the tone of the material, which Burton captured for me. BB didn't. And he gets a slight pass because his films were admittedly based on the original material from 1939, so his only remaining mistake was making the Joker kill Bruce's parents, but I appreciate his reasons for doing it, they made sense.

AAACB is my advocation for accuracy of translation, but mostly of tone, and Burton's material was accurate to Kane and Finger's original vision. I feel that one of the most important things to get right is the tone and essence of the material/character, and there are some films that don't do that, such as the X-Men films and Batman Begins particularly. Christopher Nolan is so intent on bringing the films a realistic slant (at least, so far, it seems) that it doesn't truly represent the character I grew up reading.

Hence the quote: "Keep the 'comic book' in comic book movies, dammit!" Don't suck out the comic book roots from the material, because then it's a re-imagining, not an adaptation. Not to mention that it's insulting to those of us who already loved the material and wanted to see these films done right.

But before you freak out (in case you're inclined) it's only my opinion, as I've previously stated.

Well to be fair, Batman Begins was a true origins movie, while in B89, Batman was already on the scene, the entire backstory was just told in a flashback to his parents getting killed and thats it basically. BB fleshed out the character of Bruce Wayne a lot more, something that Burton never really achieved. That movie could have been called "Joker" and it would fit more. It never really focused on how he became Batman and why. The second movie, especially with the Joker in it, will probably suit your tastes more as far as tone goes. Nolan couldn't just go in guns blazing, he had to tell the story of Bruce Wayne in order to properly restart the franchise. And for a beginning, I don't think he could have done a better job.

Censored Resident Evil would be a bit pointless. :( Glad it's only in the Jap version.

You can shoot limbs off in Resident Evil 4???
That's news to me.

I've spent hours playing RE4 and the only limbs that I've remember being shot off were heads, and I don't think that even counts... :p

Capcom wouldn't dumb down Resident Evil.

They already did: by releasing a third person shooter masquerading as Resident Evil, and an on-rails shooter to be released masquerading as Resident Evil. They also did away with the good old static camera angles and controls from 0-CVX. So yes, Capcom has dumbed down my beloved survival horror series.

You're late.

But this censorship crap does nothing for the Pirate Lord's bloodlust. :csad:
