Resident Evil 5 - (News, Spoilers, Thoughts and Ideas)

Yes she does turn bad in the games, RE 5. she's under control, just the way she is in the movie.

Im not sure what your even talking about GregComicFan, what characters are you referring to that are suppose to be good that are bad in this movie?????? All characters pretty much fit their respective roles. Leon was the only one that wasn't on par with is character, but he has such little screen time, we get no character development from him to tell. It was mostly gun shooting but You can tell he's good at heart either way, with how he supports his team etc.

ada, jill, and barry fit their bill. In fact I loved Jill in this one.

Oded Fehr's character, Carlos, is a good guy in the games. Here, he is a bad guy, or a clone, or under mind control... I have no idea.

He died in the third RE movie and here he dies a second time (drowned).

Pretty much all of the clones in this one were bad guys. Except for that one good Rain clone. When the original ones were good guys. That is the best way to put it

I enjoyed it. Sure it isnt anything AMAZING but for some reason I just enjoy this franchise. Though I am ready for them to wrap it up.

I'm thinking of watching this but didn't bother to see the last one. Do I need to?

Nah. At the beginning of each RE film they recap every goddamn thing that has ever happened in the entire RE franchise. They'll cover everything you need to know.

Two things really made me happy: The Score and
ALL HAIL PRESIDENT WESKER!
:awesome:

I loved the ending. That was a sweet a$$ scene.

Yeah it was. Looking forward to that all out battle of armageddon for the human race. I wasn't a fan of super alice, but i guess in this sense it makes sense for them to have a chance.

It's a good set-up for the next film. It reminded me of the ending to the first film.

You also forgot "good" Carlos gets eaten by a zombie in the first scenario. I am confused about something. Were they doing the cloning before the t-virus in the first film?

I don't expect this to be any good, just in the mood to see a bad movie.

I hated the last movie and I actually liked this one.

The action was really good. I hope there's a sequel and after that they could finally reboot this movie series!

I don't get the out right hatred for the second movie. Its the only movie in the entire franchise that is closest to the games.

Out of the first four movies, that is actually my favorite because it is the closest to the videogames! Plus Jill's look was perfect! Nemesis/the lickers looked pretty cool too!

I hated it because whenever Alice was around, the rest of the cast got turned into freaking amateurs. Nemesis IMO looked horrible and was simply a joke compared to his game counterpart and of course he got beaten up by Alice. Plus they completely ruined the origin of the T-Virus and the Ashfords. Resident Evil 1 is still my favorite, because it could have been easily another incident that took place somewhere else, leaving the game's canon untainted. It also wasn't so ****ing over the top.

Watched again last friday. Paying more atention, this film does look a lot like a videogame (like A videogame, not a RE videogame).

Besides the levels/boss fight already mentioned, that was a lot of scenes that could come out of a video game.

For example when Alice and Ada are going to fight
the executioner
both of them just stand in a pose, the camera opens the shoot giving a bigger view of the scene (the camera starts in front of them and goes around) and then they fight just like a cutscene, when you stop having control, something happens on the cut scene and then you go straight into shooting! Loved that.

Another scene was
Jill coming out of the submarine
the lights and all the atmosphere felt like a game. Like that a lot too.

Saw it, didn't liked it but I am wondering if anyone knows that track that was playing during the final battle.

I was soo disappointed in this film. I really wanted to like it too. :csad:

While it had some good use of ideas/concepts from the games and books, even I can't defend this one. At least in the past ones its like some care was taken and those involved had fun, this was devoid of that.

Things I did like however;
-Suburban sequence.
-Different city biomes(from Resident Evil book series, book 5; read it, there's no game of it and it's what this movie wants to be)
-Suburban Michelle Rodriguez
-[blackout]Alice being bested by Jill[/blackout]
-Antarctic base(very Code Veronica but under utilized)

Things that are hated but are from the games
-Driving zombies
-Zombies using weapons

Absolutely hated
-Horrible green screen
-Ada Wong
-Wesker 'helping' Alice
-Red Queen switching from warning Alice to hunting Alice in less than 5 seconds.
-Leon and Alice trying to be tough to each other at elevator
-Leon Kennedy
-Lack of full explanation why there's sign language
-It was all a dream, in a dream, in a dream....
-Ada Wong
-Motivationless Red Queen
-[blackout]President[/blackout] Wesker
-Barry Burton
-Chainsaw death
-Zombies swimming; Also attempting to eat Las Plagas infected
-Ada Wong
-Meaningless deaths

More to come later.

Was Ada Wong really that bad?

I think the Resident Evil movies will be remembered as modern day Roger Corman movies with a higher budget minus the charm.

I don't get why Weskey is actually a good guy in this movie. In the last movie he needs Alice and her DNA to perfect his own, as he has the virus inside him also. He stated he needed Alice's DNA to keep his virus permanently under control. Then why doesn't he eat her now? Wesker himself showed his superstrength and speed in the previous movie. He can rid the world of the zombies himself when he has Alice's DNA absorped. Why suddenly the need to keep Alice alive and even return her stupid superpowers?

Yes.
The actress is simply too young. Ada should not seem so much younger than Claire, especially for what kind of character the movie is trying to make her be.

Li Bingbing is 39 and I thought she looked the part, and going by the game timeline---(age wise), Ada's age should be around there....I didn't she looked/acted too young.

I don't think I've ever said this about an actress in their 30s almost 40, she looks 18-19 years old. She looked barely older than K-Mart.
Her voice was very young sounding as well, she sounded like a high schooler trying to act out a clearly older role.

Sure she might actually be 39, but she looked and sounded way too young to be a believable Ada Wong that the movie was trying to portray. When I aw her in Forbidden Kingdom I felt she looked like a teenager there too. Had no idea she was much older.

Who was that chick in the purple suit? I thought she was absolutely terrible. I haven't seen acting that bad since Sindel from Mortal Kombat 2.
