Resident Evil: Afterlife - Part 1

Let the Franchise raping begin anew.

New Resident Evil Film By September 2010
By Brian Ashcraft, 5:00 AM on Thu Jul 2 2009

Director Paul W.S. Anderson talked up (spoiler alert!) a new Resident Evil film last fall. Anderson has been busy working on drafts of the script, and the film is supposedly set in Tokyo and Alaska.

An insider has told ShockTillYouDrop.com that an internal studio memo is pegging Resident Evil: Afterlife for a theatrical release by September 17, 2010.

No word on whether star Milla Jovovich has officially signed on for this picture.

Milla Jovovich Confirms "Number Four"
By Brian Ashcraft, 12:00 AM on Fri Jul 3 2009

Chatter is swirling that the newest Resident Evil film, Resident Evil: Afterlife, is aiming for a September 17, 2010 release. Last night, Milla Jovovich said this to a crowd of paprazzi:

We're going to start shooting at the end of the year.

It's hard to hear exactly what Jovovich was asked to prompt that response. (Though the minute of footage of her droning on and on about her child? We can here that just fine.)

A paprazzi follows up Jovovich's reply by asking, "Which one is this?" Gesturing, Jovovich said, "Four."

One insider reports that Jovovich confirmed to him directly that she has signed on to do Resident Evil: Afterlife and filming will start at the end of the year.

^^^ Was that the post that started a new thread???

I finally got to watch this....it was really...really bad. I figured with all the cool looking action it would be somewhat entertaining, but it wasnt. Sorry. And ending it like it did didnt really help anything.

What was wrong with Wesker through? Was he constipated? I felt bad for him...he looked in pain the entire movie. :(

for anybody that hasnt liked the prior films it should come as no surprise that you wont like any new ones. im a fan and i thoroughly enjoyed it, action story and all. thought wesker should have been in it more cuz he was pretty cool but seeing as how he survived id like to see more of him in the sequel

still hoping the sequel has mr. x as jills bodyguard- but have it as a hybrid mr.x and g-monster, wesker returns and we finally get a game-like ending where the bad guy mutates into a huge monster....and hunters need to be included under the control of umbrella so its not just a bunch of soldiers in helmets

No toilets in the world. That's the first thing to go in a zombie apocalypse is the toilets

I dont mind 1 or 2...3 kinda sucked...but this one was beyond dreadful. I almost didnt finish it. But I paid 7 bucks for it, so...I kinda had too. :(

I watched this through my netflix...it just seemed very sterile to me....

eh I still like it, but it did feel very....digital

That's what the 3D camera does....James Cameron is the only guy that made it work....every other film shot in 3D has looked awful.

I do agree there. I never saw it in 3D so it did look pretty digital and sterile, but I still enjoyed the movie anyway

It looks digital and sterile because at least half the movie was green-screen. There's CG everywhere in this movie, and when they're not using CG they're using those cheesy slow-motion effects that stopped being cool about half-way through the second Matrix movie several years back. Or, they're combining the two for double the fakeness.

I wish they could get rid of Alice and make Chris and/or Leon the star of the next one.

And also get rid of those damn Ganado running infected things and bring back zombies.

Leon is pretty bland, at least he was in that CGI movie they did

That was that CGI movie, he kicks ass in part 2 and 4.

2 he's basically a puppet....I almost thought he was mute for most of the game

4 he's a bit better

I actually liked him better in part 2, even though Ada and Claire did boss him around a bit.

Either way, he needs to be in the next movie, after all he is a big part of the series.

This movie was terrible...awful. Terribly awful. Hammy acting, cgi galore, bad cgi galore, terrible dialogue, terrible characters, etc. etc.

I really liked the first movie but holy crap this series just keeps getting worse and worse. I am sad for myself for having rented this at rebox and wasted 90 minutes of my life.

It makes me sad that it will be years before there's even a possibility of there being a decent Resident Evil movie. What makes me sadder is that parallel to the movies' "success," the video games have been completely losing their identity, too. As bad as I want a good Resident Evil movie, the games need to remind us of what makes Resident Evil good first. Resident Evil 4 was a good game, but it was the beginning of the series' decline, and it wasn't much of a Resident Evil game. Resident Evil 5 might as well not have even been called Resident Evil except that it had characters from the other games. The plot in the games got pretty ******ed from 4 onward, and the games are not even horror anymore. The best game in the series was the remake of RE1 on the Gamecube. Resident Evil 0 wasn't the greatest in the series, but it at least felt more like a Resident Evil game than the games that came after it.

Also, I'm pretty sure that the book series wouldn't have ended so abruptly if the series hadn't taken such a nose dive with Resident Evil 4. In hindsight, I wish that Resident Evil 4 had spun off into a different project and that Capcom had continued in the original direction they were planning for RE4, where the horror would take a more psychological tone and the atmosphere would be as thick as ever.
