Hello guys.

I am running on a dell inspiron E1505 laptop, i have had it roughly a year and a half. It has windows vista home i believe. It has run pretty good minus some problems here and their i been able to fix. The other night, i was turning the laptop off and was turning it back up and i got some error message i dont recall off the top of my head. But when i got to the desktop i got some error window pop up for a moment talking about adobe reader, and something else.

So i was planning to just decide to restore to a working point from a few days ago when i didnt have that first message. But i tried to do a few restore points from a couple days ago but they failed to complete. And i ended up with this message: The writer experienced a transient error (0x800423F3).

I dont know what it means, but I was wondering if any one knows anything I can do that might help fix this error so my restore points are working again. Overall i dont see any problems that error message has caused while i am doing things online. I just would like to know if their is anything I can do so my restore points are working fine, in case i have a problem with something in the near future and need to restore back aways. Thanks in advance for any help guys.

I found this
1) Start the computer in Safe Mode without networking.
2) Open a command prompt as administrator
3) Type "net stop winmgmt" without quotes and press enter to make certain the WindowsManagementInstrumentation (WMI) service is not running.
4) Go to the windows\system32\WBEM\ and rename the Repository folder.
5) Reboot and restart as normal
6) Open a command prompt as administrator.
7) Type "net stop winmgmt" without quotes and press enter to stop the wmi service.
8) Type winmgmt /resetRepository and restart the system.

Thanks for that, i will try it later in the morning/afternoon. i need to get some sleep right now. If any one knows of anything else i can try if this doesnt work, please pass me along the issue.

Ok so ya i havent done that attempt to fix issue yet, i been trying to talk to friends/people i know who know pcs and all that. But while reading about the issue i recalled seeing something about shadow volume something........ and it said u want to to be on automatic when i checked on that setting my laptop has it on manuel. So i just not sure what i should do at this point. I really dont want to do a factory restore due to my regular restore points are not working and all that. Its such a pain to have to reinstall programs/files and what not. Plus i would have a little issue getting my virus software i have installed on my laptop back. So any other help would be great.
