Is anybody else annoyed by the insanely dumb rumors going around about Batman 3?

I was listening to "Real Radio" yesterday while on a long-distance drive... around 12pm noon time, and I think it was Lex (a female) and Tery or the Love Doctors or one of the radio programs on "Real Radio"....

Any ways, Lex brought up The Dark Knight and how awesome it was, then she said that Cher was in talks to play Catwoman and Johnny Depp in talks to play The Riddler. She said it like it was FACT. I was soooooooo close to picking up my cell phone and calling the station and explaining to them that WB/Nolan, if you keep up on movie news, have had ZERO discussions about Batman 3. Any ways, it annoyed me because they went on for a good 5 minutes about Cher (who is 66 yrs old) as Catwoman, and yes, they were totally serious about it. Then they went into how Angelina Jolie would be a better pick, and how Depp would be an awesome Riddler (which I tend to agree with, so I wasnt mad. lol)

Any ways, I was just annoyed at how they were spreading totally false information, but then again, I'm a movie nerd and I follow movie news religiously, so I don't blame them for not knowing the facts.

Anybody else get annoyed by this?

Rumours are stupid, but they're fun.

I will say though, Cher would make a great Catwoman, if we were in the 70's

Cher would make a terrific Catwoman. It's time Nolan veered paths and did a Batman musical. Those first two films were just too damn dark.

And way too realistic for my tastes.

LMAO! :funny:

well, rumors on sequels to very successful movies are expected. although i'm not fond of spreading ridiculous information i'm just glad that the ordinary Joes and Janes are talking about the movie. thats a good barometer on how comic book films are standing in the public consciousness-- which is of course critical for studios to determine which kinds of movies they should bankroll next.

What is also annoying besides these rumors are ridiculous fan castings. I swear Elisha Cuthbert has been mentioned by fans to play a part in every comic book movie ever to be made that the prereq's of two boobs and blonde hair. Nothing in here yet is as bad as some people in the SM sequels forum wanting Elijah Wood to play Peter Parker.

I think the Cuthbert casting is partly because she seems to go for comic book adaptions. She's obviously, like most young actresses, looking for that big role and reportedly auditioned for the role of MJ in Spiderman, Lois Lane in Superman Returns and also for Susan Storm in The Fantastic Four.

I'll admit most of her appeal to me is that she's attractive, but I think she's far from the worst actress around. I don't want her anywhere near a Batman film - or any comic book series I like for that matter - as I don't see her as a leading lady, but I wouldn't mind her having some part in something like Heroes. Having said that the two 'hot blondes' already on Heroes are better actresses than her so she wouldn't add anything. So, erm, yeah.

Cher as Catwoman...Hahahaha....And Bill Bixby as The Riddler! It's teh reunion!

I feel your pain, some radio station here in Milwaukee was talking about how Depp was in. I wanted to call them and ask them where they got the info from, for Nolan is on vacation and he has not spoke to WB about Batman 3 at all yet. lol

I want to start a rumor that Egghead and King Tut are to be the villians in Batman 3.

Cuthbert could do the girlfriend or civilian roles like MJ. Not Lois material.

I'd have to see better performances from Elisha before thinking she'd fit any super-heroine. Cassandra Sandsmark, Supergirl, Black Canary etc all out of her range.

The ignorance of some people just baffles me. Sure, not everybody has the insight that us intraweb geeks do, but still...it's common sense.

now there's a perfect casting if ever i saw one-- why didnt they consider Cuthbert as MJ? she certainly looks a lot better than Dunst. and for someone who'se supposed to portray a sensitive, beautiful struggling model/ actress she's a shoe-in.

Dunst is a much better actress though, and she wasnt that bad looknig in the first Spidey. Id rather have her than Cuthbert(though she is smokin hot)

- Articles making "speculation on ____" playing _____ when the movie hasn't even been greenlighted yet  Let alone the announcement of a title, plot, confirmation that those characters will even used so on and so forth.

- Fan made posters or videos circulating the internet to the point people think they're real, even mainstream outlets.

I won't dispute she's a better actress, but only because Cuthbert really does belong on television as opposed to film. I think Dunst is a really poor actress considering the roles she's been given, and in terms of looks I don't see what's so special about her.

I know these days it's quite the thing to bash anyone that's popular, but I honestly don't see the appeal. She was creepy as Claudia in Interview With The Vampire and for her age really did show a lot of talent. She nails her roles in Drop Dead Gorgeous and The Virgin Suicides. After that, I haven't seen her in one single film where she adds anything. Most of the time she dectracts from it. To each their own I guess.

Add in the fact that tons of peopel everywhere is willingly to lie to get more attention.

Where do people come up with this ****? Makes me think of this:

This is the worst rumor:

Cher set to play catwoman in next Batman movie

By Sean Hamilton Showbiz Editor, sundaymirror.co.uk 24/08/2008

Cher has been lined up to play Catwoman in the next Batman movie.

The Oscar-winning actress and singer is in talks to star opposite Christian Bale in the third of the "dark" Batman films.

Cher, 62, was invited to join a cast which includes Johnny Depp as The Riddler.

A studio executive revealed: "Cher is Nolan's first choice to play Catwoman. He wants her to portray her like a vamp in her twilight years.

"The new Catwoman will be the absolute opposite of Michelle Pfeiffer and Halle Berry's purring creations."

Shooting on the film, provisionally titled The Caped Crusader, is due to start in Vancouver early next year.

The Dark Knight, this summer's big blockbuster, has been the most successful of the six modern movies, which started with Tim Burton's Batman in 1989.

I find them entertaining, but I really wonder who thought up the Cher rumor. Kudos on originality

To be quite honest, I really could see them casting Cher as Catwoman...
if Schumacher were still directing the films. :hehe:

I feel your pain Greg, one of my local news networks "reported" this Cher rumor. The two anchors sounded so confident in the rumor, in fact they didn't even report it as a rumor. They said and I quote "Cher has signed on to play Catwoman in the next Batman movie after talking to Chris Nolan...that's the director of the Batman movie that's out now." They even said that it was an "interesting choice" but "they could see it."
Then the two anchors went on and talked about how "Johnny Depp IS going to play the Riddler."

The funny thing is this is the same news station and the same two anchors that talked about how "Jessica Biel IS going to play Wonder Woman in the new Justice League movie." :lmao: A lot of times I watch this news station just to get a good laugh out of their BS reporting, but this time I wanted to punch them in the face. :cmad:
