Ridley Scott is in the early stages of development of a “Battle of Britain” film which he plans to direct and produce for 20th Century Fox.
Matthew Orton (“Operation Finale”) is penning the script for the WW2 movie about the famous fight in July 1940 as the Nazi Luftwaffe bombarded the British Isles through October in preparation for an amphibious invasion of the British Isles.
But the Nazis were unable to overcome British resistance in what was the first major defeat for Germany in the war and the plans for the invasion, dubbed Operation Sea Lion, were scrapped.
The project was set up at Scott Free and Safe House Pictures last year. Scott recently completed his work on “Alien: Covenant” and has the Getty kidnap drama “All the Money in the World” as his next film. He’s also linked to Fox’s adaptation of Don Winslow’s novel “The Cartel”.

Looking forward to this. Haven't heard much about it though. I want to play this as part of an unofficial trilogy which includes Gary Oldman as Churchill in Darkest Hour followed by Nolan's Dunkirk. Both those films segue quite nicely IMHO. :)

I swear WW2 is a genre unto itself.

This has my attention. The Battle of Britain hasn't gotten much onscreen attention since the old 1969 movie literally titled.....The Battle of Britain. Which, apart from some aerial combat sequences, isn't that good.
