RIVERDALE

"Chapter Five: Heart of Darkness" - (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET) (TV-PG, L) (HDTV)

THE HOUSE OF SECRETS AND LIES - With Jason's funeral around the corner, the Blossom family moves forward with last minute preparations - and a secret agenda. Meanwhile, Archie's (KJ Apa) attempt to refocus his energy on football comes to a halt when an opportunity to work with a new music mentor presents itself. Betty (Lili Reinhart) dives deeper into her investigation of Jason's death and unearths some dark revelations about her family. Elsewhere, after uncovering secrets about her own family, Veronica (Camila Mendes) forms an unlikely friendship with Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch), who is having a tougher time with Jason's impending funeral than she lets on. Finally, Hermoine (Marisol Nichols) turns to Fred (Luke Perry) for help after receiving a cryptic message from the Southside Serpents. Cole Sprouse and Madchen Amick also star. Jesse Warn directed the episode written by Ross Maxwell (#105). Original airdate 2/23/2017.

That Pussycat Val is hot! Weird she has gotten the most screentime of them all so far.

Maple Syrup is serious business.

The Betty/Polly theories are really going to get interesting after this episode. Hermoine is playing the hell out of Fred. Cheryl's family is crazy. lol That dinner scene with Veronica was hella awkward. I love the way this show is shot. Riverdale features some really great cinematography.

Every episode is so exciting!! I really enjoyed this episode and is it just me or are the parents more psychotic than the kids? Lol It seems like the adults are the ones with all the secrets and animosity xD

Yeah- parents and grandparents! Loved the jumpscare with bonkers grandma Blossom and Bughead.

I can't believe they made Cheryl Blossom sympathetic to me lol. It was a good episode for her and Val. My first guess is that Polly got pregnant by Jason and her parents sent her away.

This show gets better every week. I like that they are having Cheryl slowly join the group but where was Josie the entire episode?

uh oh looks like Daddy Cooper is really in deep on this, he has Sheriff Keller's evidence. i cant think of an excuse why he would have that other than trying to mess with the investigation.

anyway i LOVE this ep, everything about it is just :up: it moves the story forward for nearly all characters while developing the overreaching arc of the series, that is NOT easy.

also special mention to Juggie in a suit :woot: minus the beanie he looks almost as rich-kid-y as Veronica ;)

I sort of expected to see someone or something's head in the box.
A great WTF? moment when Cheryl shows up at the funeral in a white dress.
Archie is such a peach, letting Reggie be captain. And OMG those abs.
Grandma amped up the creepy factor.

How awesome was that rendition of Tears for Fears "Shout"? :D

Good episode. Mystery thickens.
