Horror Robert Eggers Nosferatu

They expect me to wait 2 more months for this.

This looks amazing and I'm glad they are doing it right by not showing too much. I used to dream of proper vampire films when we only got either nice, sparkly ones or cannon fodder, and this seems to be the peak response to that wish.

It’s been a LONG time since I saw a vampire movie that scared me. Like, it’s gotten to the point where I feel like vampire horror as a genre just CAN’T be scary or even creepy.

BUT… I think this film could change that.

Afflicted and 30 Days of Night might be the last vampire movies for me that were scary.

Loving the look of this. A proper gothic vampire film is way overdue!

This could very well end up being my favorite vampire film. Yes, that's a high bar, but Robert Eggers is such a master of his craft at this point that I wouldn't doubt it. I also think The VVitch is the best horror film of the last 20+ years personally.

Bill Skarsgård said you wrote a short story for him that explained Orlok’s origin as a sorcerer. Is that too much of a spoiler?
That’s fine to say. Yeah, in order to make this story my own and integrate all the stuff that I had been reading—and to also understand the characters better—I wrote this novella that created a lot of backstory for all the characters. It also had tons of scenes I knew would never be in the movie, just to flesh out the character dynamics and flesh out the relationships. There were a couple appendices, and one of these was an Orlok origin story.
Is this anything you would intend to publish?
[Laughs.] It's very poorly written. I was trying to do this like a writing style from the period, which I think... There's a reason why I make films and why I'm not a novelist.

Bob, please

That’s fine. He’s not a novelist.

So go and make the prequel film, damn it!

Another one…
