Robert Zemeckis directing Yellow Submarine remake

I don't know! Because he's crazy and would rather motion capture the world if he can?

does Robert Zemeckis hate directing human beings or something?

I think he does. He doesn't trust..us mortals.

Go back to directing real people Zemeckis for the love of God.

He's doing all these adaptions and remakes while he could or probably come up with some great original ideas like D9. What happened to the director from Back to the Future?

I don't know what's going on with him.

If I was in his shoes, I would wanna try to have some variety in my body of work.

This is one of the most epic fails in film.

Yellow Submarine is The Beatles! Only two out of four are alive, what would be the point if they are not going to do motion capture let alone voice work???

Or is he just going to get a bunch of different people to play different characters basically ripping off the original rather than remaking it.

Dammit Zemeckis, quit screwing around and do a sequel to Roger Rabbit, already!

Insane waste of time and money. No Beatles movies need to be remade.

But Let It Be does need to be RELEASED :cmad:

I am not a fan of the original cartoon, just never been my cup of tea, to coin a phrase. Though when I saw this on the front page, I had to reload several times, adjust the contrast, and make sure I was reading it right. Buh?

Though if he gets the guy that voices Wakko from Animaniacs to play Ringo, I'll watch. :o

Yeah, this is the part I don't get, is he just going to use the voicetracks from the old cartoon? If so, what's the point?

I have fond/hazy memories of Yellow Submarine. Back in college, my fraternity used to have a party where we watched the movie, everyone who came had to bring 3-4 bottles of Boone's Wine and we'd all sit in a circle, one a song started you'd take a drink of the bottle you're holding, then pass it to the person next to you, take a drink from the bottle you were handed and repeat until the song was over. Got you really drunk, but also girls loved it since we were drinking that crappy wine.

I thought the part of the trippiness was the animation. If it's mo-cap, then it's gone.

this is just mind boggling stupid!

Yeah it is. It reminds me of what they're doing with that Three Stooges film, instead of making a biopic they are recasting who the Stooges were. Same goes for this film, if they can't get all of The Beatles to do this film why are they doing it?? Will this film even have any of their music in it?

Only way I can see this working would be if Zemeckis keeps all the dialogue from the original and just updates it with CGI...which would still be pointless.

Yeah I don't think this is gonna happen. Or needs to happen.

The original is fun to watch though.

i dont have any issues with the beatles themselves not being in it. they werent in the original, they had voice actors perform the parts. but everything else about this sounds like a stupid and cheap cash grab, and thats ignoring the fact that its just entirely pointless. why not just do a big special re-release of the original? its such a perfectly imaginative and psychedelic gem of its time.

plus, any beatles fan already knows, owns, and loves the original and are likely to be against and turned off by the idea of this remake. which leaves non-beatles fans as their projected audience....who will have no interest in the film.

The Beatles didn't do the voice-work in the original either.

Still, kind of a weird film to want to re-do. It COULD be interesting i guess, if it employed different kinds of animation: hand-drawn, motion capture, clay-mation. I'd even suggest doing it in 3D.

Could be fun, i guess.

They made the film back then when the Beatles were still around, so it made more sense. Even though The Beatles are a part of our pop culture, they have a completely different meaning (as a band ) now than back in the 60s.

And I just realized that..I spelt 'Zemeckis' wrong in the title!!

yes, if it were the 80s Zemeckis. Not the current one.

Whose Robert Remeckis? :hehe:

But seriously though, I liked this movie. I would rather it be re-released than remade.

Hate to say this, but Zemeckis is now epic fail.
