What do you think of a robocop remake something like I robot and minority report? It would be the same story but better visuals and for robocop something like will smith in IRobot with the cyberkinetic arm but it would be practically his whole body and of course he would still have his gun holster. If you can come up with ideas as well and post them.

Robocop is an amazing movie that DOESNT need to be re-made. However i would love for Verhoeven to do his sequel set in the future!

It's all about the story. Story, story, story. If there is a great RoboCop story that NEEDS to be told, then by all means make a sequel. If you want the movie first, and the story is secondary, it's folly.

I liked the fact that the future of Robocop wasn't too distant. I think the original film was supposed to have taken place in the mid 90s. The think with "future" movies, is how off the vision of the future ends up being when we approach that time. Especially films that depicted the turn of the century. Other films have been more subtle, though.

Yes the Robocop remake is still in some stage of production unfortantly.
I liked 2 but 3 was complete crap and ranks with rocky 5,batman forever/batman and robin,and superman the quest for peace as "movies that don't exist" to me.

It's really unfortunate that a Robocop remake is being considered for a remake. The film that Verhoeven worked on is actually pretty tight, and I see no reason to try and attempt to improve upon something that was essentially had so much to do with that particular decade. But with remakepalooza still running wild, the idea that this is being targeted for a remake doesnt surprise me in the very least.

I don't really see the point in a remake, but I wouldn't be averse to a sequel, provided that they stick to the following restrictions:

* No more 'glitch' memories of Murphy's wife and son. By the third movie, that got a little stale. They're gone, time to move on.
* No more crazy-a$$ upper-level thugs in cahoots with OCP. Even that nutty REHAB chief was just that - a thug.
* No more resorting to inept killer robots to do away with Murphy. Keep the ED-209s around for macabre comedic moments, though.
* No more Detroit police strikes. OCP will always treat the cops like sh** as long as OCP exists. They should know that by now.

Most importantly -

* Do something to the suit that will get Weller back. Heck, if his sensors are as powerful as they should be, Murphy wouldn't even have to move fast at all, even if he had an upgraded body; that would allow for a more maneuverable suit. He wouldn't have to be fast, but it could be more measured, precise movement.
