I was thinking since its such an great movie there should be a thread on it, so I made one

lets start with this Question: how many of you bought the 20th aniversery DVD.

I think there might already be a thread for this.

As for your question, no. I own the Criterion Collection version. No need for the 20th aniversary version.

there might have been but i didnt see it.
anyway thanks for posting

"state of the art assault cannon, bang bang" as clarence boddicker says.

nananananannanananana

There was a thread on it before but it was merged into the old 80s action movies threads.

As for Robocop, a remake is inevitable.

Probably. Sad, isn't it?

This is one series I thought needed a reboot right immediately after the flawed first one. There are many things I liked about the first film. It had good special effects for it's time. The music was classic. The cast and acting were good. The environment was perfect. The main problems I had were with the storyline and I found some of the action to be cheesy. Ironically, the action in Robocop 2 impressed me more but, the storyline was complete crap. I won't bother commenting on what made the third film bad.

hmm i think a remake for robocop is not a bad idea, but it needs to be at least 10 more years because its not that dated yet.

also it is likely that it would stink like butt.

Robocop is, in my opinion, one of the best comic based movies ever made. I always go back to that scene where they are shooting officer Murphy to death. It was so graphic, yet so effective. I really felt sorry for him there. It's efficacy carried over to when he became Robocop, and was getting back at the drug dealers and criminals who killed him. For it's time, I think it beats most of the current day superhero movies.

i just got my Robocop 20th edition DVD signed by Kurtwood Smith. he's an incredibly nice guy, even signed and gave me a B&W 8x10 of him from the movie (the scene right after he gets stabbed in the neck).

anyway, no thanks to a remake. the movie is so about the 80's that a reboot would be pointless. just let it be.

Although I am against starting a remake. I think I'd watch it if it comes out. I like the concept enough to watch a fresh take on it.

I've been considering buying that. Are the features worth it?

i'd say so. really informative commentary and documentary, along with some cool little featurettes.

I have both the Criterion and the 20th ann. version because both have different commentaries and supplements, I love Robocop that I play the CD soundtrack in my car.

Robocop 2 is just awful and the music sounds more suited for a TV movie.

i like Robocop 2 inspite of its awfulness. the idea of a drug addicted robot just tickles me.

I really need to get that Criterion edition.

i got the tin case its cool packaging , its better than the actual movie. i liked robocop 2 , it was a good follow up , dark and violent

The reason I'm for the remake is because this series should not have ended with one movie. The sequels were so bad I don't recognize them as being a continuation of the robocop series.

That and a 10 year old Drug Kingpin!

Robocop 2 was great! 3 on the otherhand...

Still one of my top 5 best lines in movies.
