It was turned just over a month ago by actor Russell Crowe, who did not do a screen test. Nolan appearently like's Crowe as any villain in a Bat-flick, and is anxious to cast him, but Crowe turned him down. Also approached over the summer was Edward Norton, who showed no interest. The hope with both was to announce the casting weeks before their respective movies opened, in hopes of creating free press. But Crowe is probably the hyped-up name Bill at Batman-On-Film was talking about in his forums. Nolan's rep's are now in negotions with actors Ryan Reynolds, Collin Farrell, Bradley Cooper, and Joaquin Phoenix as the finalist's for the role.

Farrel's name is probably nothing. His agents have been shoving him down Warner's throats for as long as they've been developing a batman movie for the role of Bruce Wayne. Phoenix is also a Warner Brother's executives favorite. Wether Chris Nolan likes him is completely unknown.

Ryan Phillippe and Jake Gyllenhaal and their agents are nowhere to be found.

Where'd this information come from? It's all quite interesting, especially if it's true...

It is true, you guys will find out eventually if you have to wait till the roles cast. There is a name I forgot to mention that Nolan appearently likes a lot, but is not listed for screen test. Dougray Scott, the Brittish actor from Mission Impossible.

hmm, Russell Crowe turned down the part of Ducard/Ra's al Ghul in Batman Begins as well. I think he'd make an excellent Harvey and Two-Face. It just strikes me as odd that they'd offer him another Batman villain role for the sequel.

So what did Jett mean by "unconventional"? And "don't think white?"

I wouldn't of like dcrowe but why hasnt anybody mentioned dougray scott for dent yet!

Ryan Reynolds ... he better not get it, because he better be the FLASH, whenever that gets made.

Not that i'm buying Apollo's post, but "what Jett said" isnt really the standard that you should be comparing all other casting news to, especially lately... it seems as though he knows as much as you and I about who will be Dent.

well if crowe was offered the part, the rumor-swirl was probably due to that. they probably just didn't expect to get turned down. i cannot get ove rnobody mentioned dougray scott for dent yet.

He's probably been mentioned a long time ago, just not lately. Lately people have mainly been going on BOF's hints that it will be a big name, Scott is not very well known.

Perhaps much like the old franchise, where Mel Gibson and Robin Williams were offered different roles for different movies. Gibson for Batman in 1989, and Two-Face in 1995, and Williams with Joker and Riddler.

Probably because Warner Brothers surely expected Crowe or Norton to accept the role. Phoenix is the third and final name Warner Brothers suggested to Chris Nolan as far as I know. They want it to be somebody famous.

what i don't get is how you got a look at this list. but i think the canidates might be for real.

Please explain how you no this, Apollo87. This is all very interesting, if true, but I'm just curious as to how you know this.

I am curious as well.

But I think I will go watch Batman and Robin instead.

With no source how can we know its real?

If the guy was going to tell us how he knows this he would have included that info in the first post. If one of them is cast or we get some other info to confirm this report then you'll know it was legit.... if not then we'll never know.

Phoenix is the only one on the list I like (Reynolds for Flash, though). He'd be great. However, the post smells like a load.

Actually that wasn't my intent; quite the opposite, really. I was just wondering if Apollo could shed some light, if he actually knows what he says he knows.

Id die laughing if Bradley Cooper got it after championing him for Joker. :o

Die.
