It's worth mentioning that franchises have come from worse setbacks. The most notable example is the disappointing QoS and the excellent Skyfall. Same characters, same universe.

New director. EON replaced Marc Forster with Sam Mendes.

I'm likely not going to be able to see this till Sunday afternoon.
Knowing how it's going at least my expectations will be appropriate going in now so that I may find something funny in it.

Hater detected.

For what it's worth I really don't think this will hurt the movie. Sony marketed the beejeezus out of this movie so I still think it will make more than ASM 1. But, who knows, it also depends heavily on how much people love Godzilla and X-Men in the weeks after.

Guys...we have a Transformer section....you want to debate those movies, go to the proper forum.

56% now! A month ago I'd have never believed the score would drop that low.

He'll only take credit if the movie ends up being a success. If not, he'll do what Nolan did with MOS. Put his name in all the trailers to build hype... "From the director of The Dark Knight." When people end up hating it, his name remains untouched.

At least the movie is getting praised for what Marc does best, the relationship aspect. A lot of RT reviews have been consistently complimenting the Peter/Gwen aspect of the movie.

Down to 56%, 126 reviews, 71 fresh, 55 rotten, 5.9 average rating.

I've said for years...I can't believe young people today actually let sites like Rt determine what they watch and in some cases like.

It's surreal. With how bad SM3 was and the fact it still landed in the 60's, I figured it would be impossible for a Spidey movie to be truly rotten (sub-50%). Looks like ASM2 is going to make a hard push for sub-50% if it keeps dropping like this.

If there is a silver lining it's that just cause the RT score is rotten doesn't mean audiences might not still line up. We could cite numerous examples of financial success and critical drumming.

Let's just wait for OD/OW numbers now. Seems the worst has happened and there's no going back to fresh.

It's amazing.

I've actually seen people change their minds on a movie once they see the RT score.

56%!!! on par w/ Man of Steel

for me Man of Steel deserved that score because that movie really is a piece of cinematic garbage

but this one? smh

We live in a world of sheep. Basically everyone suffers from "You have to like what I like/If everyone hates it, it must be bad" syndrome

Yea... It dropped down to 56% :( . I doubt it will go back up to 60 but there is hope maybe.

It's going to drop below 50%, only half the reviews are in.

They're not going to dump Webb. From what I've been reading the problem in the movie is the script, there's just too much going on. The director is always the easy target.

Once again, this series has had script issues for 2 straight films. That is partly the director's fault, and he needs held accountable for HIS film. Not dump the blame on other people. He could have asked for rewrites.

Who are you referring to in the first sentence? Marc Webb? He directed the film. Nolan only produced MOS, so it's not an apples to apples comparison.

I was talking about Bay in reference to TMNT.

Whats perverse is that some posters get some sort of kick at the low RT scoring. LOL. :funny: And they love nothing more than keeping an hourly commentary on the score. Sad really. Its not like they are even trying to hide their troll identity any more.

Exactly.
