I don't know about that...seems like TASM3 is still set to be released in 2016 (which IMO is not enough time, and I thought 2 years was too quick for TASM2). Not to mention, Sony seems committed to setting up their own Spider-Man universe.

I was hoping that not just Sony but all CBM studios would wake up after Man of Steel. Hell even WB did. They got Batfleck and Batfleck gave us an Oscar winning writer to write it.

RT is useful if you are on the fence for something. I was 'kinda' interested in seeing Transcendence but with a 14% rating, no chance. Not with ticket prices currently through the roof.

My overall consensus for this film is that, it's a definite improvement to the first IMO. More memorable. Andrew plays a better Peter & Spiderman, the action is better, and the overall look and tone is better. The film just needs new writers.

And I didn't understand then how people let it happen.

Absolutely no one can make me go or not go to a movie based upon their review. If I want to see something...I will. If I don't want to see it...I won't. A bunch of anonymous people on the net saying I shouldn't see means nothing to me. I have loved movies others hated and hated movies others loved. In all fairness, there's been quite a bit of that lately. Guess I'll find out tomorrow.

I always say that! best part of that review that made me lol so hard is when he said the "movie broke something in me." I instantly thought of this:

Sony is Bane and MovieBob is Batman.

For me, it depends on the review. I rented The Last Stanf with Arnold with my dad and he asked what was the reviews for it and on RT it was a 60%. I thought it was good. Only saw it to see Arnold kick ass.

That's why I like the Expendable films. If you go in expecting more than 80s Action movie stars kicking ass and taking names, this film ain't for you.

That's what I'm hoping for. Ditch Orci and/or Kurtzman for TASM 3 (well, they don't work together anymore, they broke up after this movie). Let Vanderbilt handle the script with Pinker and Sargent. Or hell, bring some other screenwriter like Drew Pearce or Jane Goldman.

In my honest opinion, Webb is a fantastic director that understands the character and creates incredible action sequences. Garfield is also great, Stone and Dehaan too. In my opinion, the biggest piece of **** in this saga (including Raimi's) is Avi Arad. He's the reason of most of the ****ups we have over the years, the only thing he achieved was to bring good directors for the films (Raimi, Webb and Goddard are great) but then not let them work in most of the creative side except for imaginery. I'm sure the man tries it hard and wants to do good movies, but he simply does not understand what this movies should be about.

And that's for someone who liked a lot TASM 2 (or at least, I remember liking it a lot, but my memory is becoming fuzzy reading this lol)

We should all have your strength of conviction.
I went to watch ASM2 again because of all the negative reviews just to confirm I enjoyed it. And the inverse of that is I went to watch Inception again because of all the positive reviews to see what the heck I had missed because for me the movie was 'meh'.

We aren't talking about people who have been interested in this film since it was announced. Die hard Spidey fans are going to see the film regardless.

But it does affect the decision of those on the fence. If someone is trying to decide between seeing TASM2 and say...Godzilla, they are going to likely go with the one that got better reviews. Most people don't go to the theater every week, either because they don't have time or don't have the funds so decisions become necessary. RT helps them make a more informed decision.

From a fan standpoint, reviews affect box office which can affect the direction of the franchise. Also, speaking as someone who has been on both sides of the aisle, it is a lot more fun being a fan of something that is respected by the general public as opposed to something that isn't.

Same here, I stopped paying heed to RT some time ago, and the score for this movie is another nail in their coffin when it comes to me taking the site seriously. My opinion is all that matters to me and I've strongly disagreed with RT too many times to take them seriously.

We live in a culture predisposed to measure and award based on opinion. The Rotten Tomatoes score is no different and likely influences you more than you can admit. No man is an island without the ocean to know he's standing on one. Reviews may not make or break your reason to go, but they might make you shore up good will, defend the material, or look past poor execution just to counter those views. But it's there. Trust me.

You had a negative view about this film since preproduction so nah.

Um nope. I was actually rooting for this film after they cast Jamie as Electro. I wanted it to be good and I even defend the Woodley casting twice. All for a sequel to a film I didn't like.
