If it stays above 50% I'll be happy...

This applies even more now.

Spider-Bucky never had a chance. :(

The only problem with this is that it implies TASM 3 will come back bigger and badder than ever. Which I hope is the case. :woot:

One can only hope at this point.

Agreed.

I am REALLY hoping I like this movie a lot when I see it tomorrow afternoon. But, man...never thought I'd see a Spidey film get THIS panned by critics. I know Webb is signed on for TASM3, and honestly, that hurts my hype for it. I don't think he has the chops to make a balanced film, especially if we're going to be having 6 villains next time. I see these pacing issues only getting worse.

This will go on for another 2 weeks and then we'll all jump on the Xmen forum, anyway :cwink:

maybe now that is rotten, and this might affect the BO, they learn from it, instead of doing the same mistake again

Anyone else thinking Webb may not come back? I mean Burton got 2 chances and did great but got fired. Donner got fired during Superman 2. Singer got 2 X-Men. Joel got only 2 Batman. Jon got 2 Iron Mans.

Only directors to direct a trilogy is Raimi & Nolan.

I think the most surreal thing about this is it seems they haven't learned their lesson. Not after Spider-Man 3 was poorly received and TASM, lukewarm at best. Maybe this will finally be the wake up call if they lose big at the BO. But this could all be moot tomorrow if like you, I see it and love it.

With Webb, I think the most annoying thing is he clearly has no control. He is a young director, just starting out. He doesn't want to step on toes and thus has become a bit of a Studio drone, who nods and adds all the "Fantastic ideas" the studio comes at him with. Which is sad because maybe he could have made two fantastic Spider-Man movies if he was given the same faith Nolan was. Or perhaps he is just in way over his head. I like 500 Days of Summer a lot, but that didn't mean he could handle movies this size.

I SEE SPIDEY asked me this last night.

The way I see it, with the short turnaround for TASM 3 and the fact that Webb has said it will be his last, they will ride it out with him. He'll be gone either way after TASM 3. It also doesn't hurt him that he seems willing to do whatever they want.

I read this in Arnold's voice from Total Recall.
And that is why I adore you. :lmao:

Yes, Avenging Spidey was one of a kind.

Ah man that dude was so optimistic about the BO and RT scores. He did come across abit OTT no offense. I hope he enjoyed the movie regardless.

See I don't even like 500 Days of Summer so I was never in Webb's corner. I agree that Webb is just following orders and has very little say in this franchise. He's a warm body director.

I go by a rule: one is a fluke, and 2 is a trend. Webb has shown a trend: he can't pace these movies. I don't expect this to change.

Actually, I think Webb has more control of this product than we want to admit. I just think maybe this series is too big for him. He has those hints of brilliance in the series, and yet in both films, we have been talking about poor pacing and weak villains. I don't think Sony is to blame entirely for this. Sure, they want more villains in these movies. But, that doesn't excuse the execution of the villains he IS working with. Just because the studio says you must use Electro, doesn't mean you have to do Electro the way he was done.

Hopefully Sony gets some good writers on TASM3. Hell we got Terrio on Superman/Batman so I'm confident it that.

i would rather fire the writters than Webb, one of the thing these movie have praise for is the quemistry between characters, and the acting here isn´t the problem, is the material they have to work with(script)

Batman 1989, he did good, but not great. Critics generally liked Batman Returns, but it was really stupid and disgusting, and didn't make that much money. And I personally hate that film.

I guest I watched a different movie to these critics

like i said before films are highly subjective, maybe you as a spider-fan:oldrazz: are pleased with the film but them as movie critics see stuff you don´t see/don´t care for and they didn´t like what the saw

Kick the guy while he is down SPIDEY.

He might have a lot more control then I think, but considering how drastically different, yet apparently muddled TASM and TASM 2 are, I have to think Avi and his crew can't stop playing. The only thing that has really worked is Peter and Gwen, and that is his thing.

With the villains, I think what is important is what he is allowed to do with them. If they write the characters as completely generic and then cut his character building scenes, I don't know what he is suppose to do. If he was writing these film as well I'd agree, but he isn't.
