RUMOR: Microsoft all but completed Capcom purchase...?

Word is beginning to trickle down to fitbabits HQ from several independent sources that Microsoft has all but completed the purchase of Capcom. I'm not going to spell out the ramifications if this one is true, but I will mention two words and a number - Resident Evil 5

Note that this is firmly in the rumor category and that's where it will stay until either Microsoft or Capcom confirm or deny it.

I think someone, possibly me (not really sure), made a thread about it last year. Interesting that this has all of a sudden sparked up again.

It could be quite a killer punch if this happens.

Hm, this rumor seems to be coming up more and more often. If it becomes true I hope this doesn't mess up with any possible future translation releases of Phoenix Wright on the NDS as well as Capcom licensed products. There is a Street Fighter comic and a action figure line coming out now that I would HATE to see canceled.

There was news a couple of days back about how MS payed a lot of money for Capcom to keep the Dead Rising franchise exclusive to the 360, but other than that there hasn't been much official news on their relationship.

Capcom denies it. So I guess it ain't going to happen, but companies have denied things that would happen in the past. Considering the age of this rumor I doubt it was ever true though.

Well, Nintendo has a huge hit with the Wii, so talk of that happening is obsolete. But I'm sure MS is not gonna give up at all. Especially with the possibility of having Resident Evil 5 and Dead Rising 2/3 as exclusives.

The Mega Man Anniversary Collection is going for $12.99 used for Xbox and Gamecube versions, and $17.99 for the PS2 version, at Gamestop.

And the Mega Man X Collection is going for $17.99 used at Gamestop.
