I put this as a rumor since its not official but looks like EA might FINALLY be bringing the series to the current gen of consoles. If thats the case, I for one am happy bc Ive been waiting years for this

Official PlayStation Magazine has reported that Criterion might be working on a new SSX title for PS3.

We haven't seen an SSX game since SSX Blur on the Wii or SSX On Tour on the PlayStation 2 and Xbox, just over four years ago.

The magazine declared that Criterion is apparently working on the new SSX alongside a new Need For Speed game confirmed for a Q4 2011 release.

We'll see whether this is snow joke or a n-ice surprise in due course. Groan

Man I haven't played an SSX game since Tricky on PS2. I played that game 24-7, but never got to play the more current ones though. I can't wait to see if this rumor is true, because I will be all over it.

I played the hell out of Tricky as well. It was my first and favorite game when it was released. SSX was just as good if not better bc of the Uber tricks and that they had one big mountain. There was tons of content, events, collectibles and customization in that game. Plus they introduced online play which was a big addition to the franchise. SSX: World Tour was a good but not as good as 3. One of the reasons I remember not caring for it as much is bc they took the online play from it. The last SSX game was SSX Blur on the Wii back in 2007, but that was nothing more than a port of World Tour which also included tracks from SSX3

SSX and Madden 2001 were the 2 games I got with my PS2 for Christmas the year it came out. I foolishly traded it in a few years ago for a meager $.50 cents :(

Thanks for the rundown. I guess I didn't miss too much then. Online has to be a part of this new one (if it's true), so I'm good with missing out on it in the previous ones.

Thinking about it now, two things just happened.
1. I am super hyped for this.
2. I want to play SSX Tricky again. *Adds to Gamefly que*

I enjoyed the series quite abit, and I usually stray away from these types of game. I'd check out a next-gen installment

Madden was my first game as well. I didn't even pay attention to SSX Tricky when it first came out. I had zero interest in a snowboarding game. That changed when I first played it at a friends house. After about 3 hours of mind melting fun, I ran right out to buy it. Such a fun game.

Tricky had one of the best videogame intros

I always played as Elise or Kaori, Tricky was the best. SSX 3, On Tour, and Blur just took away all the things that made Tricky fun in my book.

Psymon and Mac were my favorites to use

I'm salivating at the thought of this being a reality :D

The much called-for SSX reboot could finally be announced this Saturday as escalating rumours point to a reveal for the acclaimed snowboarding series at this weekend's VGAs.

Kotaku has been putting together the pieces, reporting that the team behind Skate at EA Canada has been working on a new SSX title for over two years. It's said that the game will be taking the series back to its roots, but that it will be inheriting some of the traits of the Skate games – including the ability to perform tricks on the right analogue stick.

EA registered domains earlier this year for SSX Deadly Descent and SSX First Descent – could these be prospective titles for the reboot?

Since Kotaku reported the story, Peter Moore has blogged about the reveal of 'an obscure new title' this weekend – linking out to a teaser trailer that shows several snow-capped peaks. What could it mean?

Fingers crossed.

I'm not optimistic in using the right analog stick for tricks, I sucked badly at the Skate games, hopefully it's just minimally implemented. And if it is being used, I hope it isn't some step towards making the game like Skate, instead of Tony Hawk 1-4.

Hard to believe it's been 7 years since SSX3.

Redefining the SSX franchise, SSX: Deadly Descents pits riders against both mountain and man. Players explore the story of a team who seek to be the first to descend the faces of the most treacherous mountain ranges on the planet. The team travels the world to face the worst that Mother Nature can throw at them. From the peaks of the Himalayas, where the air is so thin that riders have to descend through the death zone at breakneck speeds to keep from blacking out, to the solid ice ranges of Antarctica, where a sunlit line is the only survival option when temperatures drop 50 degrees centigrade in the shade. And the mountain isn't the only danger players will face. In SSX: Deadly Descents the first goal is to survive. The second, in true SSX fashion, is to look good doing it.

It took me ages to figure out what SSX was and why it meant something to me. I spent days on SSX: Tricky, but it had completely gone out of mind until now. What a fool I am! Hopefully this game will be as good as my nostalgia-fueled memory remembers the older ones to be.

I dont like that it will be less comical, but I am looking forward to this

yea I hope they can maintain the same humor bc what made it so fun was how over the top it is. I dont want a more realistic game

A realistic SSX is not a SSX I care about. If it's not idiotically over-the-top and goofy as all hell, **** it.

I totally agree. It is not a game I want to play. If I can't get that goofy Eddie doing the worm on his snowboard, I'm out. I do not want to play SSX: Modern Warfare.

What ever happen to bright and fun games. :csad:

I'm going to go play Psychonauts for the rest of the day.

Ha and I say this with my two most anticipated games are Mass Effect 3 and L.A. Noire. :oldrazz:

But how the hell do you turn a franchise known for over the top cartoony snowboarding into survive the horrors of the deadliest mountains!
