Well with much debate I have decided to continue my story for last month's fiction contest, up. It's up at fictionpress and I haven't gotten too much feedback there so if you guys hated, you'll just ignore it or tell me it sucks. The grammar and spelling sucks in many parts but if I did an extensive edit, well my story would never be posted on the net and I already feel I've written myself in a corner with some of the characters. But I hope you guys enjoy.

Vita walked off the bus, lifted up her shades and thought ‘This is the perfect opportunity to actually run away. To start all over new, forget about the past’ .

She just spent the whole summer watching her dad make out with his new pregnant wife, while he forgot that the child his new wife was carrying wasn’t his first. When she got back to Mistarrow, Michigan, she’d be stuck in that boring city. But the simple fact that her father didn’t listen before he bought her ticket back to her grandparents, just may have landed her the perfect opportunity she’d been looking for.

Sure, Grandma would miss her and Grandpa would miss the extra hands in the garage but Mistwood, Nevada had so many possibilities, especially since she turned 18 in three days. 300 sat in her pocket. It would be a little bit more than enough to buy a ticket back home to Michigan.

A cloud of dust lingered in the air when as the bus left the station. A three families were having reunions, and a couple was making out. Vita took a deep breath looked around nothing looked new; everything has a worn look about it. Her red suitcase was the only one baggage that remained at the baggage pile. She grabbed it and headed out.

A homely woman with curly blonde hair stood at the ticket booth, filing her nails. Vita looked at her purse. Usually her money spoke to her when she should buy something. The only sound her wallet made was chirping like crickets. Maybe she couldn’t hear her money speak because her purse was closed or this really was a good opportunity?

Vita exited the station and a tacky sign read “The Mistwood Motel & Diner” with an arrow pointing down the road. The building looked dusty just like everything else in Mistwood but hey, it was a start. Vita put on her sunglasses, placed her ear buds in her ear, turned on her MP3 player, and headed towards the diner/motel. Coincidentally Natasha Bedingfield’s Unwritten played.

Eon, paced around the barn. He couldn’t believe that Zelex was going to sell him tomorrow! Zelex barely spoke to Eon, all week and today he chose to tell him that he was being sold, and the deal was made over a month ago.

He’d been working with Zelex’s family ever since he was born, his father worked for Yida, Zelex’s mother. Ever since, his mother died Zelex was acting funny he’d been getting rid of land and he traded many of the various valuables around the station. If only Yida still alive none of this would be happening.

Eon had to leave, but how?

There were three space pods in the garage. Using them without permission would land him a death penalty, but who cared, he had to leave. If Eon was sold he knew that he’d be dead within 5 months. The people who bought slaves never let them rest or eat. The master key sat in his pocket.

Eon ran to the garage. His heart pounded 100x hard with each second that past.

*****

Zelex had a blank expression as he looked out his window. Outside he saw all the stars. Each one shone so brightly. The Cuitlso star was pretty close tonight. He remembered how his mother Yida, told him that Cuitlso was their star.

Looking at the star filled his mind with his recent decision. He promised his mother that he’d never let anything bad happen to their station. He never intended to keep the promise long, only for about a year or two, and then he’d quit and trade everything except their three space pods. Those were classics and he planned on keeping those. His father built them by scratch. But his gambling debts were getting so high. A loan shark said he’d take Eon, and pay off all his debts.

Oh course Zelex’s mother would be angry. She loved Eon, she’d known Eon’s father all his life Eon’s grandfather practically raised her, and she even picked out Eon’s mother just for his father. When Eon’s father died she cried. But he didn’t care his mom was dead anyway. When he sold Eon, he could start fresh and not have to worry about another loan shark. The other slaves would miss Eon, but he had to do what was best for Zelex, not the station. The station was getting old, and taking care of others wasn’t his specialty. Eon’s loyalty wasn’t enough for Zelex to keep him.

The ground began to rumble.

A loud boom filled the air. Zelex looked outside the window and he saw an explosion, coming from his garage. One of his space pods was flying out. It looks like it was flying out of orbit.

“Eon! Eon!” he yelled.

No one answered. Eon wouldn’t steal, from Zelex, he was too loyal. Zelex looked through the cabinet drawers franticly and he could find the keys to his garage. Eon was the only one who carried the keys around, but he wouldn’t steal from him. Or would he?

Zelex ran out into the hallway. Pert and a few others were in shock from the rumbles.

“Eon!”

“Eon left the house about an hour ago” Pert told him.

Zelex ran out to his garage. The pod that was flying was flying out of orbit, he couldn’t see who was driving it, but all hints lead up to Eon.

‘That little punk is going to pay for this’ Zelex thought. He picked up is phone and dialed the galaxy police.

“Hello” someone on the line answered.

“I need help; I have a runaway, who just stole a space pod”

******

The pod wasn’t very stable, well maybe it was and Eon’s driving was unstable. He never driven something out of orbit, and he wasn’t sure how long the pod was going to last out in space. Eon kept the radio off because he knew it’d be a matter of time till there’d be a broadcast looking for him. He was starting to think that running away with a pod wasn’t the smartest idea. There would be people, who would miss him, but they’d miss him either way, he was going to be sold.

The pod started to gravitate towards a black hole.

‘Well at least, it’d be awhile before anyone will find me and I’ll be killed’ he thought.

The temperature started to rise in the pod.

**********

Vita looked around in the diner. It was pretty empty. The only waitress leaned against the bar and was having a conversation with the cook in the kitchen. She had wiry orange hair and the hugest calves she’d ever seen. An old man with a newspaper kept looking over at Vita. It was creeping her out.

She took another bite of her burger. It tasted pretty gross. She only paid three dollars for it. And it wasn’t really worth it.

Maybe staying here after all wasn’t a good idea.

Vita looked outside maybe it was best if she did go back to Michigan. It was eight and the ticket booth was closed.

Vita took out a five and placed it on the table and walked out.

Vita looked to the sky and saw that the sun was setting; the sky was a pretty orange reddish color. She headed towards the entrance to the Motel. Hopefully the rooms weren’t too expensive, because going back to Michigan was becoming a priority a the moment.

Inside it smelled old, like the windows were never opened. The air condition made a soft rumbling sound. At the desk sat a woman who looked much like lady at the diner. As Vita approached the desk she could see a mole, with hairs sticking out of it. Vita shivered.

“How can I help you?” she mused filing her nails.

“Could I get a room?”

“Sure, would you like a double or a single?”

“Single”

“That’d be 30”

Vita handed her thirty dollars. The woman took the money and went to the wall and picked out a key.

“Your room is on the west side of the building. If you need anything I’m Kellie, the number for the front desk is 3” she said handing Vita the keys with a smile.

“Thanks” Vita smiled back.

Vita walked back outside. Hopefully her room would be cooler than it was in the main office. As she walked out to her room, there was an eerie calm in the area. It gave her the creeps. Maybe she would call home and explain the situation to her grandma. Oh course she’d have to fabricate and say that the bus broke down in this town not that she was about to try and start a life here.

As Vita walked up to her room, she sighed. The whole place looked like something out of a horror movie. She prepared for the worst as she opened the door. The room had the same odor that the check in room to the motel had. Vita dragged her bag in.

She looked at the air conditioner. It looked as if it hadn’t been used since the 70’s. Vita tried opening the blinds but they wouldn’t budge.

“What a dump” Vita said walking to the bathroom.

The bathroom wasn’t much better but at least it looked liked it was clean.
Vita headed out to the vending machine. A bag of Doritos might make this whole situation just a little bit better.

************

Eon had no control of the space pod after it went through the black hole. The windshield was completely damaged. Eon didn’t even know where he was headed. He had no idea what dimension or galaxy he was in. But that meant the longer it would take for Zelex to find him. It might even cost Zelex too much money to even try to find him. This idea was starting to show its bright side. Now only if he was sure he was going to survive this flight.

Eon decided to put the pod on stealth mode. Hopefully it turned invisible like it was suppose to. The pod started to shake. It seemed as if it was being pulled through an atmosphere. ‘Please be somewhere life is sustainable’ Eon repeated in his head. The pod was getting hotter by the second. Eon started to black out.

*********

Vita kicked the vending machine. It just ate 2 dollars. She’d already wasted too much money; she might not be able to get home without getting in a lot of trouble. Starting new was more like starting trouble. And a now she didn’t have any Doritos to even cheer her up.
There was something funny going on. Vita heard like a whistling sound, similar to what you hear when a teapot is steaming. She looked up but didn’t see anything. Vita walked towards the pool. Maybe letting her feet sit in it would make her feel better.

The pool was probably the only thing that was actually clean in the whole place. The night was warm, and so was the breeze. Vita bent down and dipped her hand in the water. It was kinda cold, but not that cold. The whistling sound was getting louder. Vita looked up and she thought she saw something but she didn’t.

A huge breeze from the sky pushed down on Vita. A tidal wave splash came from the pool and Vita lost her balance and fell in. Vita let out a scream.

Her arm hit something, hard that was cold like metal, and a metal shell appeared. The metal looked rusted like someone left it out in the rain. A door opened and someone rolled out. Vita tired to get away but the door hooked onto her pants and she ended up tearing off the pocket.
The person who came out of the shell grabbed onto Vita. They were bringing Vita down. Vita panicked at first but she gained her composure and got both of them out of the water. She dragged whoever came out of the shell out onto the ladder. Vita climbed out of the pool breathless.
Vita looked over at who she saved. It looked like a kid, but something was off about him. He wore a potato sack. He looked as if he was balding, but he didn’t look old, he appeared to be knocked out.

"What the hell, have I gotten myself into?' she thought as she saw her pocket floating in the water.

Though Vita didn’t see the guy opened his eyes.

Eon opened his eyes. He had no idea where he was, but he was wet. Where ever he landed seemed like it was stable for him to live. He looked around and nothing looked familiar. He saw what looked like a girl who appeared to be wet she was looking at her legs. She had a look of bewilderment on her face. He heard her murmur something about “pants”, but that’s all he could decipher.

Well, he was safe for the time being but he had no idea how he was going to get around on this planet if he didn’t speak the language. Maybe if he heard the girl speak, for a little bit he could pick up the language.

Eon got out of the pool of water; the ground he walked on was hard. It didn’t feel too strange but the air felt a little too light. It may take some getting used to this planet. The girl turned around, she had big eyes, that look black, but they were a dark brown, her skin seemed to be a brown color too, but it was much lighter than her eyes. On top her face she had what looked like to be a removable pair of eyes. She had thick black hair that was wet and was pulled back into a tight poby tail. Only woman of wealth or superior power had a full head of hair on his planet. Her lips moved and she started to talk to him.

“Hin ldlso hdow?” she asked.

Eon studied her lips. He tried to understand what she was saying.

“Euold yodslk, hdowl. Euopdl, jofw?” the girl asked frustrated.

He gave her a puzzled expression.

“Hello? Ii you dyoud youd?” She said getting up pointing to the ship.

If he wasn’t mistaken he was somewhere in the Milky Way galaxy. The girl resembled the stories he heard from the people who had seen species from the galaxy except the skin part, he was told that they usually had pale skin or a dark blue color or bright orange skin that sometimes the head had a different color than the body. There were only a few planets in his galaxy where the inhabitants resembled the way she was structured.

He was starting to understand what she was staying. What she was speaking was a somewhat complicated language, but he believed she was asking where he was from. She got up from where she was sitting. She was about two heads taller than him.

“Are dhosdle dhihs Russian?” she asked him. She was speaking very excitedly with a hint of nervousness. Her arms were wailing, and she was breathing heavily. Each time she finished speaking to him she murmured things such as “Michigan” and “bad idea”, the rest was a jumbled mess. It made him want to laugh.

Eon pointed to the sky, and said “Holmberg, Grasxl” hoping it would answer, if she was asking where he was from.

She gave him another bewildered look.

“There’s no state called that” she replied confused. “Is that some European country?

“It another galaxy” he replied.

The girl gave him a weird look.

“So that’s like a space ship?” her voice started to get higher, she wore another bewildered look as she looked at Zelex's space pod.

“Yes” he said giving her a crooked look. 'They don't have space pods here?' he asked himself.

She started to breathe harder and started to speak faster to herself she started to say “aliens”, “god” and “dream”. Those wore the only words he could decipher. She was kind of funny.

He lucked out. This was the only galaxy that the galaxy police didn’t patrol. Was luck shining on him! And this girl seemed like she wasn’t harmful at all, maybe kind of stupid. Maybe she could help him start a life on this planet. He didn’t look too much like her, but if the rest of the inhabitants on this planet looked like her, he’d be able to fit right in.

He pointed at himself proudly and said “Eon”

“What you called?” he asked.

The girl stopped and looked at him.

“Vita” she said exhausted.

“See, the GP knows, you’re in debt, so how don’t we know this space pod of yours wasn’t stolen by one of your loan officers?” Kre asked Zexel.

Zexel looked at Officer Kre with disdain. Kre and Zexel were in Kre’s office. Kre office was black the windows has a black curtain over them. They had been going through Zexel’s statement for the past 2 hours, and Kre refused to send out a alert for his pod and Eon, and no one else was on duty. Maybe he should have never broken off his engagement to his sister, Opedol when his mother died. Kre was purposely being difficult. He refused to put out an alert for his pod and Eon. Zexel could feel that Kre was getting enjoyment out of this.

“I’m missing a slave too. I told you that my slave Eon stole my pod”

“And you know, I hear that you were going trade Eon and most of you station, to get out of debt”

Zexel rolled his eyes. He knew Kre was in his business, just because he was angry at him for breaking Opedol’s heart. Seriously it was close to what, four months ago? They didn’t even choose each other. They’d been arranged in that marriage for there whole lives. She should have been happy that he broke out their engagement but Opedol, was a big ol’ romantic drama queen and that’s exactly why he broke up with her.

“The last time I checked there’s no reason for you not to put out a alert for both my slave and pod, not matter what financial situation I’m in”

Kre laughed.

“I don’t think this is funny” Zexel said getting angry.

“I find it hilarious”

“Just send out a freaking alert” Zexel said frustrated. He was losing a battle, which he needed to win.

“You know, I could but I’m going to send someone over to make sure that your pod is gone. And you’re not staging this for money” Kre said smugly.

Zexel gave him an evil glare.

“This is unjust!”

“See this is why don’t have badge. Because it’s not, you’re a shady person and this is why this seems unjust to you”

Zexel started to get up to leave. He was going to be in debt for awhile now, if he didn't get Eon, back.

Just then the door to the room opened. Opedol walked in with bags of food.

“See, brought you lunch because I know you weren’t going to eat. I don’t care you’re going- “she began but stopped when she saw Zexel.

Opedol wore a shocked look on her face. Zexel rolled his eyes.

'Great just what I need' he thought as she looked at him.

“Opedol, go wait outside” Kre said annoyed.

She ignored him and placed the food on the table.

“Oh, what are you doing here?” she asked Zexel concerned.

“Eon, ran off with my space pod. And your brother here refuses to let out an alert for either”

Kre rolled his eyes.

“Well, I could get Gigil. She’s a tracker now, and help you”

Zexel smiled. He used the same smile he used to win an argument with any girl. He could see Opedol’s heart melting. He still had control.

“Opedol you’re not helping him” Kre told her.

“Well you’re not. And were friends. He’d help me if I was in the same situation” she told her brother defensively. She gave Zexel a weak smile.

'Oh how naive she still is' Zexel thought to himself, because he'd never help her if she asked.

“Going on a mission to find his slave and pod is going to cost more than what he was trying trade the slave for!” Kre yelled.

“You were going to sell, one of your slaves? I knew things were bad since your mom died. I had no idea it was that bad” she told him sympathetically.

Kre rolled his eyes. Zexel smiled again at Opedol.

“Yeah, they are. You know I’m just getting by with the station” he told her. Zexel got up and went to Opedol; he grabbed her hands and looked into her eyes. Opedol began to blush.

“But helping my find Eon, and my space pod, would mean so much to me”

“I’ll help you with or without my brother’s help” she told him

“You’re not going without me. There’s a chance that Eon, might have gotten out of orbit”

“Gigil, is a great tracker. She’ll be able to find Eon. She’s been finding stuff around home that we’ve lost years ago” Opedol told Kre.

Wow, maybe Opedol, would be a help to him.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There was now way that this kid could be an alien. He looked human except he had very few spots of hair. He came from a ship, and he had weird skin, and he had really bad English. He had a name too, that wasn’t too human, Eon. This couldn’t be happening. She was actually thinking about running away and she met up with an alien. What kind of fate was this? Going back to Michigan was going to happen now for certain, someone up there wanted her to go back home.

His English seemed to be improving the more they talked. He had a gentle face but it had a worn look to it like leather. His skin was a pale and he had small purple eyes. He seemed quite excited, and he smiled at her, like a little kid.

“Help me?”

Vita couldn’t tell if this was a command or a request.

“Excuse me?” she asked Eon.

“Need help,” he pointed to himself and began. “Running away. Want hide here” he told her.

Vita gave him a confused look. Eon gave her the same one back.

“I don’t think I can help you with that”

“I need help!”

The kid, Eon started to approach her. She backed up.

“Please don’t come near me. You’re kind of freaking me out” she told him.

Eon looked disappointed and stopped. He looked frustrated.

Did no one else around here the big splash the pool set off? There was an alien! Or maybe Eon was really some Russian kid who was like the first kid in space and was like frozen in time and his space ship crashed today. She remembered reading a lot in school about how the Russians were all good with space stuff back in the 50’s. But he said something that he was from the Holsberf, or something like that. She remembers hearing a galaxy name as such when she took astronomy.

But she was like 20 minutes from area 51 and maybe people were used to things like this?

The pool started to steam. The space ship was vibrating and turning a deep red color. Eon looked at it alarmed.

“What’s going on?” Vita asked scared.

Eon grabbed Vita’s arm and started to run.

“Oh my god!” Vita repeated as they ran.

Another teapot noise hit the air. Vita flinched. Scraps of metal filled the air. Eon pushed Vita to the ground and he dropped down. A heat blast rushed over them, and then water splashed on them. Thuds of heavy objects being thrown surrounded them.

Vita was breathing hard. Eon got up and looked back, Vita followed. The pool was destroyed and so was part of the motel. A big the pool was widened by the explosion and a few rooms to the motel were broken shattered. There were scraps of metal everywhere.

‘Did this kid just save my life?’ Vita asked herself looking around. One of those bricks could of hit her.

A light came on in a room and someone from the office of the motel was coming towards them.

“Help” Eon said to her again with eager eyes.

Vita hated being in debt to someone but it looks like this alien kid, she was going owe for life. He did just save her life.
