Saw a News Report about this the other day.

The Russian news sphere has been abuzz this week with unconfirmed reports that a gang of thrill-seeking killers is on the loose, setting booby traps along poorly lit roads around Moscow before murdering ill-fated motorists.

LifeNews, a Russian news portal with known law enforcement ties, released a sketch of what it claimed to be a suspected gang member on Wednesday, noting that police were currently searching for three men believed to be responsible for the sadistic crimes.

Attackers have reportedly been laying iron spikes out along dark roadways at night. After puncturing their tires, unsuspecting drivers are forced to pull off to the side of the road, at which point they are shot and killed, LifeNews reported.

Tabloid Moskovsky Komsomolets reported that rumors of the first such murder emerged on May 3, but that police have only recently begun to suspect that several attacks on motorists all stem from one group of killers.

Nothing of value has been stolen from the victims, according to news reports, leading investigators to believe the killers are committing the crimes for the mere thrill of it, the report said.

Most of the incidents have reportedly occurred on the M-4 highway outside of Moscow, as well as two of the ring roads surrounding Moscow.

Lifenews reported that the gang has claimed the lives of 14 victims since May, and that three men have survived their attacks. Moskovsky Komsomolets placed the death count at four in its own coverage of the alleged phenomenon.

The latest victim was discovered on Tuesday night along the A-108 road near the village of Fominskoye in the Troitsky administrative district on the outskirts of Moscow. According to a statement released by the local branch of the Investigative Committee, the man had called his friend just moments before his death to say he had to stop the vehicle after getting a flat tire.

An investigation is currently under way into his death, according to the statement, though police have not officially tied all the alleged incidents together.

No motive for why they are killing people. Scary stuff.

Reminds me of the "Omegas" from Children of Men.

Sadly murdering has been apart of human nature since the beginning of time. It'll never go away.

Glad the police are finally catching on.

The police were telling people who have their tires punctured at night on the highway to keep driving at a low speed until they reach a built up area.

This type of thing can cause widespread paranoia.

I bet most people don't want to leave the city or even their houses.

The words "unconfirmed reports" cannot be stressed enough.

My best guess is that drugs and drug usage are involved in all this.

1) These attacks are too calculated to be done by intoxicated people

2) Drug addicts would've stole property

3) Drug addicts typically aren't serial killers

More details
A sketch has been released in a bid to track down a serial killer believed to have a hatred of car drivers.

Police say they are investigating around 14 deaths which they suspect may all be down to the same person.

In each of the cases the motorists were all murdered with a single bullet to the head.

Nothing was stolen and there is no apparent motive – leading police to believe they were carried out by the same driver-hating killer in the Russian capital Moscow in the last few years.

In each of the cases the drivers were murdered but nothing was stolen from them and all of the killings were apparently motiveless, having happened without any road rage incidents or any other apparent provocation. In addition, each of the drivers had been killed by a single bullet to the head.

The latest case was in June this year when 53-year-old Alexey Tsiganov was shot dead near Domodedovo airport.

The same month Albert Yusupov was killed in Fomingskoe village on the outskirts of Moscow.

Two pensioners were also killed in May.

Police did not say how they have managed to put together the image of the man they wanted to quiz about the murders, but have appealed to anyone who may know who it is to get in touch urgently.

Sources close to the investigation have said ballistic experts believe the same gun - a nine calibre Russian-made Makarov - was used in all the cases, a fact discovered after similarities between the murders were noticed and an investigation was carried out.

Psychologist Mikhail Vinogradov, who was been drawing up a profile of the killer for police, said: "The murderer in each case did not take money or other belongings of the victims and nor it seems did he know his victims.

“It all leads towards the idea that we have a serial killer. It is also typical that he mostly kills in one area on the outskirts of Moscow, where it is likely he knows the area."

Charles Manson and his followers were deep into drugs, perversion and alcohol. Nor did they profit from their violent rampages. Look what they were able to do.

But this wasn't a drug-fueled blood orgy.

A trap is set and the victim is shot execution style with a single bullet.

Sounds more like a hunter or ex-cop/ex-military than a hippie cult high on LSD.
