Sabretooth in the movie wouldn't make any sense.

If this movie is going to be a prequel, that is.

In the pair's first encounter on the snowy road, there wasn't any sort of assertation that there had been a history between the two. And when Cyclops was talking to Wolverine back at the mansion, he explained who Sabretooth was and what he was doing, like the Xmen had been keeping track of him.

A prequel wouldn't make sense in that regard.

do we need to justify this question, your first post was a new thread have a look around before you start new threads, maybe ask that question in the thread dedicated to that crazy animal

wolverine had amnesia....you can do damn near anything in his history because of that

Or maybe I don't have time to look through every new thread on these boards.

As for the amnesia, as far as I knew, Wolverine remembered his past encounters with Sabretooth. Sabretooth killed Silver Fox, and that was after the Weapon X program.

Well why voice your view if your not gonna read others

Who really cares if it makes sense, they have been a rivalry forever and it would be awesome to see them both in the movie.

Sabretooth recognized his dog tags. They knew each other, they just don't remember.

Yeah, its a retcon.... but its a good one. Their history together is important to the characters of both Sabretooth and Wolverine, and it was a mistake to push that off to the side in the first movie. Besides.... Creed's the ultimate archenemy, so what kinda Wolvie movie would it be without him lurking around? ;)

The dogtags thing is a hint at their past there already.... hopefully if they play this right, it'll put more scenes between them in X1 into a new perspective, if that's possible.

yeah, anything to get kelly hu back in a tight outfit....

I was so begging for logan to just say Yuriko just before she died....

kelly hu needs to be in the film big time....

Deathstrike kinda looked like she knew Wolverine (while she was dying), kinda in the same way, but maybe she had a little amnesia too..

The movieverse doesn't necessaily have to justify or become justified itself because of what the comic does. I believe that Jean explained it briefly in X1 about how Logan can't remember ANYTHING about his life before the experiment (although he has nightmares and some of it came to him along the way), therefore the prequel can work around or with this to keep the consistency going.

Besides, the first movie was big enough already. To set-up a relationship between Logan and Sabretooth's rivalry, they would have to set-up a tremendous amount of time dealing with where the rivalry came from and all of that. Since there was pretty much no smooth way of doing all of that and taking care of the main story with the X-Men, Magneto and his own plans, and Rogue, I think it was good that they put in the dogtag element and left it alone and up in the air for possible future use. It's the same with the Nightcrawler/Mystique thing and the Juggernaut/Xavier relationships.

what!!?!?! Wolverine and Sabretooths relationship is sooooo relative to Wolverine's back story!! the experiments! his relationship with Silver Fox and how Sabretooth impacted it. the Special Ops they were involved in. the neverending animocity between the two. the amnesia explains everything away for Wolverine in the XMen trilogy leaving the door open for whatever in the Wolverine spin off. yesssss. i can not WAIT!

They can simply have Wolverine get a mind wipe at the end of the movie.

Why would Sabretooth want Wolverine's dog tags in X1 if they had only meet once??? He knows he has the same dog tags as Wolverine and something in his mind clicked. Sabretooth in a Wolverine movie is not stupid.

:xmen: It wouldnt make sence NOT to have sabertooth. they should also introduce silver fox, kestral and mastadon. oh, and maverick too. :xmen:

maby there will be some sort of confrontation between then and something like he will take the dog tags from his neck next time he sees them

I think he would have met sabretooth before he got his adamantium.

He smells in the first movie and I think theres a sort of history he can smell. Sounds stupid but I think he doesn't directly recognize him, but I do think they've met before.

Plus, a Wolverine movie isn't complete without a Sabretooth VS Wolvy fight, that would be crap...continuity be damned

their history in x1 is very vague. it seemed like sabretooth kinda knew everything but wolverine couldn't remember anything. I wanted sabretooth to say something like "you're still second best , runt!" while they were fighting on the statue of liberty. it would've made more sense and show they had a history.

Some of the older Wolverine comics that I have, show Sabes & Wolverine as partners working for the Canadian govt. That is what got them both "recruited" for the Weapon X project.
Silver Fox 's death is a blimp in Logan's memory. It is most likely only a false memory, because that is how they were trained with negative reinforcement when brainwashed. There is a comic where Prof X and Jean guide him in his mind to find what is making him crazy and casuing all the nightmares. They find all this stuff in his mind and he really comes close to loosing it all over again.
I seem to remember reading somewhere that Silver Fox went crazy from the Weapon X stuff and ended up joining the Hand or Hydra - Can't remember which. Even in the 90's cartoon, Silver Fox was still alive when they all met back at the lab for the "Lies , Video Tape" episode. So I don't believe Sabes ever killed her in the first place. Just a false memory.

I would be cool if they started a little before WWII and Cpt America (cameo for a future movie maybe, hmm) and worked forward thru all the spy stuff when he was partners with Creed, the lab experience and end with him breaking out (naked) and trashing the place.

Yea, Logan and Creed went on missions for the CIA together. The Origins series is currently focusing on that. It was recently revealed in #8,
that Sabretooth was on seperate orders from Weapon X to capture Omega Red so they could incorporate him into their program. Creed often killed or threatened to kill innocent people as a means of getting obediance out of Logan and Maverick.

Wolverine has his memories erased what woul you expect?

Notice that Sabretooth recognized his dog tags though...
