Saddest moments in games

Greetings fellow Hype gamers,

I haven't seen this question asked on this particular forum yet, so I figured I would be the first to ask it. However if it has been asked already feel free to close the thread or merge with said thread.

In your opinion, what are the saddest moments in video game history? Moments that literally made you choke up or outright cry? I think most people will agree that the death of Aeris will always be the best cut scene in terms of emotion, music, and the feeling of being helpless to stop it.

Jenny's death in The Darkness. NooooOoo:csad:
I was actually getting mad because I couldn't do anything. It's rare a game gets me all emotional, but that moment was so intense.

How is The Darkness by the way? I've always wanted to play that game.

The first time I finished KH1, I was near tears when Sora decided not to go back to the island with Kairi. When he looks back at her and calls out as she's drifting away, that's powerful stuff!

worth a rent as it wasn't too long and I didn't see any replay value. It's also not very difficult. The voice of the Darkness is awesome however.

Mike Patton did an amazing job as the voice of the Darkness. I saw a few clips of gameplay on Youtube and found it to be very creepy, original, and downright messed up. Rumor has it that they're going to make it into a film and that the plot will be similar to The Crow.

With that said I didn't did get choked up during that moment. It was very intense and I was more angry than said, mainly due to the fact that Paulie was a prick and was just twisting the knife deeper into Jackie.

I still feel the death of Aeris from FF7 and Emma's death from MGS2 were by far the saddest moments in video game history. Although Gray Fox dying in MGS1 was pretty sad as well. Here are some more emotional moments from Metal Gear and Final Fantasy 7.

Definitely rent it. It's worth at least one play through alone. The graphics are excellent, and the storyline is compelling. The voice acting from everyone is top marks too.

Eh, it really has a greater impact when you play the game from beginning to end. They show a lot more of Jenny's character and how she alone is the one positive thing in Jackie's life. Good stuff.

Silent Hill endings are always good and have a great degree of significance with them.

@PWN3R- I plan on renting the game and playing it all the way through. I'm sure the intensity, emotion, and rage is strong when a person is actually playing the game when that happens.

Mike Patton's voice for The Darkness is just mindblowing and from what I understand that is him actually using his voice with no special effects/modulations.

busting my balls when Sonic first came out and losing sleep, then finally finishing it and having nothing but a poo fire works show.. :|

Seems like a lot of games such as MGS, Final Fantasy, Kingdom Heart, Darkness, and etc are the games with the emotional concepts that can move the gamer.

I remember when I played MGS for the first time and was so into the game that I literally got mad when Liquid killed Fox. It's almost like you're watching a movie, and there's this villain that is an absolute cold hearted prick, and you just want him to get that asskicking he's in for. I remember seeing that and feeling so driven in the moment that I literally ran Snake toward Rex and was prepared to do some serious damage.

It's very rare that video games in general move you, but I appreciate the fact that the creators of the games add more complexity, emotion, and realism to the games as it does put you the moment and make you feel as though you're there.

Guys, I need to edit my previous post so the youtube tags work.

How do I get the youtube tags to work?

I would! I thought KH was a great game and a lot of fun to play. It's a great combination of RPG, platformer and action with enough side quests and minigames to keep it fun well past 40, 50 even 60 hours of gameplay.
It's funny and a little smart and it has some great over the top RPG moments, plus you get to play as and with some of the most iconic Squarenix and Disney characters of all time.
I loved playng it and KH2 was a great sequel.
It's a definite buy in my book!

Kaine, just don't put the entire address into the yt brackets. You just use the value which is the number after v= in the address. So it should be [ yt ] number after v= [ /yt ] with no spaces obviously.
