Official: Scarface Announced for Wii
It's coming this summer and we've got some of the first Wii screenshots.
by IGN Staff

March 1, 2007 - Vivendi Games' Sierra Entertainment division officially revealed to IGN Wii on Thursday that it is planning to bring Scarface: The World is Yours to Nintendo's new Wii console. The game, which has sold 1.5 million copies worldwide on PlayStation 2 and Xbox since its debut, is scheduled for a summer release on Wii.

Scarface for Wii will present the same storyline and play mechanics of its predecessors, but will include new Wii-specific controls and enhanced graphics. The title pits players as the legendary anti-hero Tony Montana in a storyline that asks, what if the character had actually survived the mansion shootout?

"Bringing Scarface: The World Is Yours to Wii is an exciting opportunity to take an already amazing game and add an incredible twist, thanks to the Wii console's unique remote controller abilities," said Cindy Cook, chief strategy and marketing officer for Vivendi Games. "Adding motion-sensitive elements to a game that already includes an incredible celebrity cast, Hollywood production values and non-stop action, delivers a gaming experience unlike any other, truly bringing the world of Tony Montana to vivid life."

In The World is Yours, players become Montana as a rising gangster in Miami during the 1980s. Gamers will re-enact scenes from the classic film and engage in all-new unlawful activities as they carve out a name for the character. Like the Grand Theft Auto series, Scarface employs an open-ended gameplay design with non-linear-style sandbox elements. The game features the voices of more than 50 actors and sports 120 licensed music tracks for an authentic 80s style.

We'll have much more on the Wii version of the game soon. But until then, feast your eyes on some Wii-specific screens of Scarface in motion.

The M-rated games are coming to the Wii, but I'm sure people would like to see games that weren't on the PS2 or X-Box.

Speaking of which, I'm interested in the developing "Day of Disaster"(?) game that got an M rating, and yet I've heard nothing more of...
