This is a thought of mine which I can't believe I don't see stated more explicitly elsewhere: When Crane got tazered in the face at the end of Begins, I imagined that leaving his face scarred. Now, he has a reason to wear the mask more often.

Simple but brilliant thought. Why didnt I think of that?

On Scarecrow;

he is a great character, and a shame to just leave him. I like the idea of him being in Arkham and giving Batman a pyschoanalysis on Joker, but would have to say that Scarecrow is probably far too demented now to be giving Batman a sound analysis. And i think Batman, as the guy who gassed Crane in the first place, would know this, and thus would not take his opinion.

As for costume, i don't think he would be allowed to have his full costume on in a mental asylum-They all wear that horrible orange monkey suit. Perhaps he would have a straightjacket on, but as this is Nolan-verse, i very much doubt he'd be permitted to wear a potatoe sack on his head.

He is not neccesary to the story imo, it might get cluttered.

Oh my gawd!
A wicked priest and a drag mother!
The end is near!
:woot:

Haha

I think it's been brought up but its a nice thought anyway.
I think its...interesting that Cillian makes a better woman than most women.
Normally you can tell straight away but i had to look twice with Cillian.

ANOTHER disfigured bat-villain?

save the scars for the characters that need em

His return is pointless. But I suppose he's better off returning than this franchise introducing Robin,Talia or Selina Kyle.

UPDATE
New interview where Cillian comments on TDK. The smile and the no comment in the video interview makes me think he's going to come back at some point.

From IESB:
Exclusive Video Interview: Cillian Murphy on Barley, Sunshine and The Dark Knight!

The IESB sat down and talked with Cillian Murphy about his new release, The Wind that Shakes the Barley, Danny Boyle's new sci-fi film Sunshine and, of course, we had to ask if the Scarecrow would be returning to Gotham in The Dark Knight.

After 28 Days Later, Cillian Murphy quickly hit the Hollywood scene and has found himself quite a fan following. His newest film is quite a departure from his last few films and actually hits close to home for the Irish actor.

Regarding Sunshine, Cillian mentioned that he saw it a couple of weeks ago and that it turned out extremely well.

The last question I had to ask is the one that will send fanboys into overdrive. Will the Scarecrow return to Gotham in The Dark Knight?

So while I am sure that some people out there will say that I am pulling a, what does Devin over at Chud call it? Oh yeah, an "Oh Don Piano," let’s take a look at his quick response.

The question, will we going to see Scarecrow come back in The Dark Knight? The answer, "I can’t comment on that." Hmmm, interesting, this is the way I look at it, if I would've asked him if he was in the upcoming, let’s say, Transformers, he would say no, right? Well, if he wasn't going to be in The Dark Knight he would simply say the same thing, no I am not. So why would he say he cannot comment?

As early as August of 2005, Cillian was very open about the possibilty of coming back for a sequel and went on record saying, "If they decide to make another Batman I'd love to be in it. The main attraction to me for that film was Chris Nolan directing it, but I don't know what I'm gonna do next…" and also admitted that he has signed on for more films "I think they have options on us, yes," said Murphy.

Way to dig up a thread Retro. I'd like a 'crow return, only in a limited role. The idea of an interrogation scene with Gordon looks good or a 'Bond like' opening with Batman foiling a Scarecrow plot.

I wouldn't be surprised if Scarecrow at least makes a cameo appearance.

Thanks for the news, Retro.

There's the chance that Murphy said he couldn't comment because he knew they could bring him back seeing as he's signed, but doesn't really know if they've planned to do so. You'd think he'd know by now, though... So, my optimistic guess is that he'll be back. For sure, I'd be disappointed if he wasn't, partly because I'd love to see a more theatrical Scarecrow in the/a sequel, but mostly for the sake of continuity.

The fact that now he's saying he can't comment on his return makes me think that he will be in the sequel. Wasn't he answering the same question not to long ago with "I'm not sure. I would like to return." Something along those lines.

Thanks, Retroman.
A cameo with some more hallucinogenic-gassed-effects would be just fine.

"I can't comment." Combine that with Goyer and Nolan saying the worst thing the previous series did was kill off the villains, and then look at their source material (The Long Halloween), and it should be clear to us:

he'll be back. they wouldn't let him live and then just disappear from the franchise.

Meh, I'd rather see Scarecrow fear toxin the Joker at some point....oh how I love that moment in Knightfall.

That's just what I was thinking! I think that's an excellent point that shows how insane The Joker really is.

And Batman battling The Scarecrow in the beginning of the film isn't a bad idea either.

A Joker/Scarecrow team up like in Knightfall would be immensely glorious.

Oh, please God no. No villain team-ups this movie. Just The Joker.

I want to see Crane getting dragged in for mug shots with taser scars on his face and greasy like he spent a week in a sewer. Which he probabley did, considering how fried he was at the end of BB.

I like that idea. Theres tons of possibilities with Scarecrow ánd Zsasz who's also rumored to be coming back.

No prob.:yay: He's inhaled all that gas he created so it's almost certain he'll be much more crazier if he returns which i think he will.

This would be the first time a Batman movie villain appeared two movies wouldn't it?
Iwas about to post this, nice one Retro. When Murphy said "No comment he a grin on his face like "Yeah, I'm back as The Scarecrow" something like that.
Everyone is scared of WB's ninjas thats why i think he couldn't comment.:ninja:

i don't see why they can't bring Cillian back.

I'm they really hinted strongly at his return in last scene in Batman Begins. To not include him this time around (even if it's a cameo) would be a shame b/c he would only add to the dark knight.
