You knew it was coming; David Zucker hopes to have the fifth intallment in the very successful 'Scary Movie' franchise in theatres by 2008. After Tuesday's episode of 'Dr. Phil', when Zucker offered a walk-on role in 'Scary Movie 5' to a woman afraid of horror movies, talks of the fifth installment spread like wildfire.
When asked if a script had already been started, director David Zucker responded, "You can't do anything of the actual script of it; you need to wait at least two years between the Scary Movies because there aren't enough movies coming out." He went on to say, "They could make any limit of Scary Movie's."
Bob Weinstein assured that David Zucker and Jim Abrahams, the team behind 'Airplane!', 'The Naked Gun', 'Scary Movie 3', and 'Scary Movie 4' would reteam for the fifth installment. Anna Faris assured us earlier this week that she wants to stay with the franchise until it dies.
After the Easter weekend box-office results were revealed, and 'Scary Movie 4' came out on top with a record-shattering $41,000,000, Paul Dergarabedian, president of box-office tracker Exhibitor Relations said, "I say the Weinsteins should be getting Scary Movie 5 through 10 ready right away."
Brace yourselves for 2008, when 'Scary Movie 5' creeps into theatres, allegedly spoofing zombie flicks including 'Dawn of the Dead', 'Land of the Dead', and 'Day of the Dead', as well as upcoming thrillers 'The Lady in the Water', 'Pulse', and, what David Zucker believes they will most surely spoof; 'Silent Hill'.
