Scientology is not a religion

Good to know.

On behalf of couches everywhere, I propose that Tom Cruise's legs be chopped off.

I'd rather he just be dead.

Religions are hard to define. It's as much a religion as anything else as far as I am concerned. It has a right to identify itself as such.

No, they're easy. It must be backed by a doctrine to be considered a real religion.

In a few centuries it will be taken seriously :o

I don't get Cruise, though. He always seemed kind of down to earth and normal, now he's all insane.

It must be menopause.

I still don't know what scientology actually is

Religions don't have membership fees.

according to http://www.scientology.org/

Scientology is the study and handling of the spirit in relationship to itself, others and all of life. The Scientology religion comprises a body of knowledge extending from certain fundamental truths.

Is it a Religion? Sure.

Is it an intelligent religion? Who are we to say. Scholar's look at my religion and laugh. I look at the Roman's and laugh. The Roman's would look at Scientology and laugh. Those who believe Scientology laugh at all of us.

You can question Scientology all you want (the membership fees, the...less than credible founder, etc. would make it a choice I would never take), but if it helps people deal with reality easier (Kirstie Alley was able to stop her drug addiction, in part, because of her ties to Scientology) who are we to judge?

I don't know, giving a tithe seems close to paying a fee.

Except for the whole part where you don't have to give a tithe if you don't want to.

It's based on Dianetics and the principle that in the evolution of psychology it should not have taken such a serious diversion from philosophy or something like that.

You remember how the Solo-Flex work-out machine thing came out and made like a bazillion dollars? Then lots of imitators came out with cheap knock-offs to try and make some money as well, while claiming to be the real deal? Scientology is that beach ball thing.

Well, I'd consider myself a rational human being and as long as I stay that way the judging shall continue!

Maybe you can even fill the role of The Spectre when you stop being a rational (alive) human being. The judging will never have to stop.
