Scientology: Your Opinion?

I've not just added this to the religion thread as i dont personally deem it a religion and i'd be grateful if the mod's would leave it open, but i'd love to hear what fellow hype member think of Scientology.

Personally i think its brainwashing and just odd, A few years ago Dharma and Gregg star Jenna Elfman was quoted as saying 'AIDS is not a disease but a state of mind' after not signing some posters that would raise money for a childrens AIDS charity.

Tom Cruise a person i like as a actor said something about Brooke Shields Depression that her Chimical Imbalance did not exist and that her pill's were once named after Hitler (a urban myth Cruise belives is real).

The more i read on Scientology the more i dislike, and the less respect i have for those that follow it. That said it'd be good to hear if any people on the hype follow this way of life or just your opinion on it.

But lets keep it civil.

I am a theist but even some things in my own religion are questionable to me but I don't have to pay to figure that out.

And the thing is, its not real Kabbalah.
also Kaballah is worthles without 3 things:
First you have too study Talmud for many years.
You have too be over 40 or at least as mature as a 40-year-old
And you have too believe in the Jewish YHWH. in fact Kabalah is hebrew for "acceptance (of god)"

I view it the same way I view any other cul... I mean religion: While I see nothing worthwhile about it, I won't prevent someone from throwing their money away if they decide they like what it's selling.

But seriously, most regulars around here know my opinion about Scientology. Here's the thing though. It is like a cult, but I think the poll needs another option stating "It's just a money making scam."

I don't really think that most Scientologists are "brainwashed" into joining, because mostly they choose to accept the slick lies and the re-definitions of basic concepts like "ethics". Now, once they've been in for awhile and the personal information gathering, indoctrination and instilled paranoia has taken place, that's when things get a bit cult-like. But as much as I am quick to speak out against the Church of Scientology's tactics and policies, I really consider it more of a ruthless scam organization than a true cult.

Of course, A religion is worthless if they make you pay to be in it. However, It's your Money. Do whatever the **** you want with it. You could Buy somebodys soul and i wouldn't care.
