Gus Van Sant's tale about an American man who travels to Mt. Fuji in order to commit suicide who meets a Japanese man with the same idea. Together they began a journey of decision and survival as they attempt to navigate the harsh forests surrounding the mountain.

This is the one that Joaquin Phoenix was supposed to do, right? Looks like he passed. :(

I hope shoot the damn thing in Japan. Not New Zealand. Not Ireland. Not Taiwan.

Japan.

You know the highlands of NZ can substitute with WETA inserting a Mt. Fuji. :o

If they use the actual woods it'll be a real creepy and unsettling experience. I'm sure they'll stumble upon a few sites where people have either killed themselves or left evidence of their lives behind.

Subject matter probably won't leave much room for comedy, but she's great on The League.

At least it's not Sony Classic Pictures. They're great overall but they have the worst Blu-Ray covers.

A premise of Ian Fleming's novel You Only Live Twice was that a lot of Japanese were going to Dr. Shatterhand's (Blofeld) garden of death to kill themselves. Is this a Japanese thing?

I also remember from reading the book (many years ago) that the strongest expletive from a Japanese person was shimata, which I remember to mean "I have made a mistake." I bet they use a few more swear words these days!

It baffles me that booing is still accepted at Cannes. It's extremely childish.

Correction people, it was booed at a PRESS screening, Pete Hammond said that the movie actually got a standing ovation at its official premiere yesterday with an audience, it apparently played very well.

You know you've made a big doo doo when the press are actively booing. :funny:
