Seagate Prison is an iconic part of Luke Cage's mythos as that is where he got his powers. It made a appearance in the All Hail the King One Shot where Trevor Slattery was thrown in. Can we expect to see the corruption and racism from such characters like Albert 'Billy Bob' Rackham and William Quirt? Can we expect to see the head/warden Tyler Stuart and his two sons, Discus and Stiletto?

What do you guys think?

I think, as this is a more mature version of the MCU, that we darned well better see Rackham in rare form. I don't think we need to get into all those characters as I'd imagine his time in prison would be relatively short, perhaps an episode or two, if that, given as he is actually active in some capacity during the Jessica Jones series.

More than that, I hope that we see Dr. Burnstein be an interesting twist on Abe Erskine, perhaps a student of his who is wound a bit looser due to his years of chasing his mentor's shadow. A cameo by Sam Rockwell wouldn't hurt either.

too bad we'll never see "OZ" in the Marvel Universe. Could have been interesting.

Well seeing how Daredevil managed to pack a ton of side characters in to its 13 hour series, I think the same can be done for Cage. Rackham and Quirt definitely should appear, and I would even revamp Tyler Stuart into a character with more dubious motives, and use Seagate to comment on the prison industrial complex.

I think the "flashback" model used in DD to show how he got his powers, but with the show set years later as he decides to use those powers as a hero, would be a good model for Cage (as well as IF and JJ, to be honest). That's how I see Seagate appearing, through flashbacks.

Any ideas for casting for characters that work at Seagate or for the police? Characters like Albert Rackham, William Quirt, Tim Stuart and his sons Discus and Stiletto, Noah Burnstein, Quentin Chase, Rafael Scarfe, etc?

I think Tom Dreesan would be a good Tim Stuart.

The Cage books were really just comic versions of Blaxpolitation movies, and guys like Rackham were always the bad white dudes in Blaxpolitation movies. The corruption and racism you speak of may not be as prevalent in real world 2015 (but, then again, there's a ton of bad blood between races right now...at least, that's how the media is making it look) as it was in 1970's exploitation films, but if the Cage series follows the Blaxploitation vibe, Jack, then it should absolutely have Seagate and Rackham and Quirt and all the good "jive-ness."

Ya dig?

especially since the J. Jones show has Cage as a recurring character, I presume that Cage's time at Seagate will be sometime in the past. But hey, we'll see.

Yeah, I assume so too (particularly since photos suggest he's pretty durable right now).

My guess is they won't really explore Seagate until Luke Cage has his own show. That'll also give them time to incorporate any Ant-Man references they might want to include (such as the character Scott Lang was fighting).

Anyone else assuming that Paul Rudd is going to show up in Luke Cage? Something where Chemistro upgrades his security and Luke knows a certain ex-con who can crack Chesmisto's new system? I'd be totally okay with that as an episode. Even better if they were cellmates.

That's one of the downsides though. I really wanted Luke Cage to be dealing with all of that, but in a modern setting.

I wonder if we'll get Rackham in the show. There was a scene with Shades and one other prisoner attempting to attack Cage.

I looked at my old comment. If someone wants to try and connect the fight there to this show I'd appreciate. My take is that it's fairly separate (even state vs. federal crime). But I'd love to hear otherwise.
