I liked the twist.
[BLACKOUT]Clearly, something went south after Danny became the Iron Fist. It was hinted at, but it was confirmed in this. During the tournament with The Hand, it was heavily implied. I mean, Danny's been getting the questions from people who know about the legend of the Iron Fist about why he's not at the gates of K'un-Lun. Even Danny has described his duties as Iron Fist has being the guardian of the gates of K'un-Lun from invasion of The Hand. And instead he's in New York. So, seems like good storytelling that we see pieces of his lack of knowledge, if things did go the way he said in this episode. He said his training as the Iron Fist went "sideways", so clearly something happened. And the ending, with Davos clearly pissed he left, and pretty much confirmation that Danny abandoned his post to return.
The Hand using grass root methods, taking in youth who don't have family, or have been abandoned, or need something to believe in. It makes sense. They have ALOT of foot soldiers. Alot. They're a ****ing legion. Building their forces via a sense of community and devotion. It makes sense to me. Spending time there, I fully understand why Colleen thinks they're the good guys. And hell, she might have a point about how they've been demonized and caricatured in K'un-Lun, where even Danny has described them as more like a fable or something like the Devil and demons.
I liked the reveal of Davos, too. I had thought he was an assassin waiting on a chance to kill Danny. I also think the reveal worked well, because I didn't wind up hating Colleen (which is normally what should happen when a reveal like this happens). Her going rogue and saving Danny and Davos was a good bit or redemption, too. I liked the ending, and it seems like we're going to understand what happened in K'un-Lun, and why Danny left his post.
The reel was kinda bittersweet. I badly, badly, want a costume. I just do. And the reel through in the hint that it'll probably happen. So, that's good. I really don't think him wearing a costume would be ridiculous. I can admit that he hasn't had much reason to hide his identity this season, though. But, getting past this season or maybe even in The Defenders, I'm not sure having the famous Billionaire walking around without atleast a ski mask (please, don't make it a ski mask...) to conceal his identity would work for long.[/BLACKOUT]
