Season 2, Episodes 1-3 (Spoiler Thread)

Great to have the show back and off to a flying start, nice getting 3 episodes at a time as well so you get plenty to chew on each time.

Doesnt matter how dark or gritty the themes are you put into Star Wars though, Stormtroopers still cant aim for ****, haha.

Also want to circle around and shout out Luthen's little gossipy gay guy routine with the party guests. Hysterical way of prying info out of them.
I was really hoping for him to go back to that mode, which we could enjoy early on in last season. Love when he puts up that facade. I've seen Stellan Skarsgård on TV series and films over here since I was a kid in like late 70s, often playing quite diverse and intricate characters (and he actually debuted way earlier).

One of our truly iconic actors, and I'm so ****ing glad he still gets to play interesting characters even after he more or less left European cinema and went to Hollywood-land. Like here, in one of the biggest franchises ever.

Anyhows, this was a truly great trio of opening episodes. The combination of greatly written engaging drama including great characters, AND classic Star Wars sci-fi/adventure/action scenes, makes this little kid who once went to the cinema in 1977 hopeful. Especially considering the variations in quality regarding both films and TV-shows in this franchise we've sadly experienced for quite some years now.

Yep, we're soo back.

We are so back. This show continues to make the small moments matter as much as the big action scenes. It's amazing to watch.

It really is.

It's a shame Andor and Rogue One are pretty much the only truly great things Disney have done with Star Wars in 10 years.

Few glimpses of potential greatness with TFA and Mando, but that's about it.

I've enjoyed other parts of Disney Star Wars, but often for the opposite reasons why I like this. Andor and Rogue One are unique in that regard.

Cinta dropping bodies. I just realised the actress is the same one playing the Doctor's companion in the latest season of Doctor Who.

Cassian Not knowing how to fly the Avenger was a nice touch. Often you have the hero who is just ultra competent and has an answer for everything. We get to see Cassian figure things out as he goes on these journeys

I have to say, I had to keep restraining myself from wanting to pause every few seconds because I wanted to look at and check out every single detail of every single set, item and decoration in every scene just to see how it compares and differs to our real world. It looks like so much thought and detail went into making every single little thing.

Like, that clear open lid on the table in the Imperial conference room with all of the snacks. Like, it kinda reminds me of something we have in real life, but it’s also different enough. I’m thinking to myself, “What is that for, exactly? How do you use it? How does it work? What’s it made out of? Who made that? What did it take to make it? Where did the material that was used to make it come from?” :funny::funny::funny:

You can just tell and feel that there’s such a rich history behind every little thing in this show. Props to the production design department, because those little details really go a long way in immersing me in the world of the show and making the “Galaxy Far, Far Away” feel like a real, lived-in place.

Very good start. Genevieve O'Reilly is as good of a fortune casting as you could ask for. She's excellent and after decades of reading how important Mon Mothma was on those Star Wars Databank books in the 90s, it's surreal to see it being excellently realized in live action at last.

Dedra and Syril are fascinating to watch early on and how awesome is it to see Krennic again? Loving the imperial side.

Can't wait for next week.

Most things worth mentioning have been praised here already, better than I could, just one thing haven't seen referenced .

It's been a while (3 years?) since I watched episode one, I remember much of what happened to Andor's home planet and original culture, was left somewhat unsaid and unresolved.
Though the implication apparently the Empire was exploiting and extracting the planets wealth, the miners subjugated and wiped out in Imperial mining "disaster", that killed all the adults, children left for dead, to survive on their own. With the planet placed under Imperial prohibition, visited only by scavengers.
Now, without ever referencing it directly, listening to Krennik's plans for Ghorman, extracting what they need at any cost, instantly brought me full circle, I imagine was meant to fill in that narrative gap, and invoke that imagery again, the brutal cycle that created Andor to begin with.
Just thought that was brilliant.

I finally got the chance to see these and I quite enjoyed them, although I think my expectations were perhaps a bit too high so I don't love it yet like I did the first season (which did take a couple of episodes to fully start firing though).

I think I expected there to be some bigger events based of that there are supposed to be time jumps between the arcs, but I'm fine with that it's not like that yet. I think my biggest criticism is that Andor himself clearly had the least interesting part in his own show, and I had expected him to shine more in this second season after he fully committed to the Rebellion. The time with the soldiers at the rendezvous spot just wasn't interesting at all to me and Cassian just didn't get to do anything interesting as a character. He just had his pilot action scenes. I hope to see him involved in the more interesting storylines in the future.

The best part was Chandrila where we could emerge in their culture and I've always loved Mon's political storyline. I'm also looking forward to Krennic being a bigger part of the Imperial machinations as the meeting scene was quite promising.

I did enjoy myself and I'm looking forward to seeing more things happen in the context of these events.

Just caught up with the first three episodes. I'm a little late but I wanted to finish my season 1 rewatch before jumping into this. I liked it a lot on my first viewing but I'm way more invested in it now, picking up on little details I had missed or forgotten before.

As for season 2, this first arc was just as good as any from season one. I was a little taken aback by that scene between Bix and the Imperial Officer in episode 3 in that a Star Wars show would go there but at the same time it didn't feel that out of place in this grittier world that Andor has established. This show has done an incredible job in showing how dangerous the Empire is.

Jar Jar exists in the same universe as this.
Yep, that was my exact thought after the aforementioned scene near the end of episode 3. :o

I'm really broken up over that sad box. He's not gonna know what happened! Brasso was the one who left him with her so I assume no one else knows where he left him and they'll have to leave and B2 will live out his days with the kids, never knowing why he was abandoned or if Cassian ever made it back.

Or they pick him up. You better ****ing pick him up after that cut!
The bittersweet thing is, he's most likely safer there if they don't go back for him. But I have a feeling we'll see B2 again.

It's also amazing how Genevieve O'Reilly went from being cast as Mon Mothma in Revenge of the Sith and ending up on the cutting room floor to getting a call a decade later to reprise the role in Rogue One, which of course led to her being a prominent character in Andor with appearances in other shows like Rebels and Ahsoka. I always thought Lucas made a mistake in deleting those early Rebellion scenes with Padme, Mon Mothma and Bail Organa from ROTS. They wouldn't have bloated the movie and by removing them it took too much away from Padme's storyline.
