Just guessing, but I think it comes from "Übermensch," Frederich Nietzsche's term for the Superman. Über=Over in German.

Most likely. Why bother using Melissa if they're both meant to be in the same scene and Overgirl's face is covered anyway. That would just be making more work for themselves.

Sara and Alex look like they are dressed for the club rather than a wedding! :D

Melissa does have some scenes in the Overgirl suit though, right? I seem to recall her talking about wearing a different suit this season.
 
Overgirl is looking exactly like her animated counterpart.

Looks like Sara and Alex will get along well. Maybe Sara wants Alex to join the Legends?!

I think this crossover is going to be Alex's initiation into the larger superhero universe.

I wonder who else from Supergirl will be in the crossover besides Kara and Alex.

Jeremiah made Kara's glasses. They have lead in the frames to help suppress her X-Ray vision. That way she doesn't inadvertently see something she doesn't want to see. Notice that when Kara is wearing glasses and
needs to use her X-Ray vision she discretely tips the glasses down so they don't block her view. When she is Supergirl she would want the X-Ray vision available without having to fidget with the glasses so that is why
Kara doesn't wear the glasses as Supergirl.
 
Okay I'll backtrack a bit that only Kara, Alex, and Winn may be the ones from Supergirl to crossover.

This is going to be both Alex and Winn's initiations into the larger superhero community.

Yeah it makes sense when she was a child and when she is Kara Danvers but she is a nobody on E1 and has nothing to risk.

According to director Larry Teng, the Supergirl part of the crossover is the milestone 50th episode.

I see from the article that it looks like Winn will not be in the crossover. He and Lena were just visiting on their day off during the show's shutdown day.

Why would Chyler be going to Barry and Iris's wedding? Does she even know them? Does she know Barry at all? Have they even met?

Seems like unwanted use of X-Ray vision would be as much of a problem on Earth 1 as on Earth 38.
 
I wonder if we will see what both Central City and Star City look like on Earth-38 during the crossover.
 
The episode title for 3x09 is [blackout]"Reign."[/blackout] Guess that'll be a big one. And probably the one [blackout]Odette's been doing "flying lessons" for. [/blackout] Or maybe that'll be the one after it. Either way, sounds like a potentially much stronger post-Crossover return ep than "Supergirl Lives." Hopefully.
