Season 4, Episode 10 (Series Finale): "It Went By So Fast" (SPOILERS)

It's kind of surreal to me that this is the end, not just for this show, but for over twenty years of DC television on the CW, and it ended up coming full circle by ending in Smallville. Incredibly grateful that after all the ups and downs across so many different shows that we ended with such a solid show bringing us what quickly became my favorite portrayals of Superman and Lois Lane, Tyler and Bitsie were fantastic in their roles from start to finish.

Wow. I didnt even put that together in my head youre right. How poetic that it began and ended with Superman on the CW.

Well, that wasn't someone cutting onions, that was someone lobbing tear gas right into my face. Just ugly crying....

At first I thought Sarah was skipping her mothers wedding, which, cold. Glad she got one last appearance in the finale though. Also, Kyle man, you gotta get that thing snipped.

Also, 8 grandkids feels like a lot from 2 kids....

I do wish they had gotten the Tal actor back, just with all that talk about family.

Also, I just love that shot of Clark and Lex in the afterlife. Just, pure Superman.

Just so much in one gif. Snyderbros will never understand this. And just so much subtle acting without words.

oops, there go the tears again.

22 years on from Road to Perdition and a Tyler Hoechlin monologue is making me ball like a baby again. Seriously, **** that guy!

The mind reels wondering what they would have done with a 5th season and I’m sure it would have involved Brainiac. Dont get me wrong, this last season was wonderfully executed but man…what a way to go out if they had ended on Brainiac.

I never turn down a Brainiac adaptation but idk, I think it truly feels most fitting for the final season to be the Lex Luthor season.

Absolutely amazing ending to the series. I loved it! It definitely will get you feeling emotional. .

It's crazy to think, I personally went from not wanting to give this a shot, to saying this is probably the best live action Superman we have ever gotten.

It was rushed, things went very quickly, and overall I felt the low budget during the entire season (the absence of the supporting characters). But as a conclusion of the series? It was beautiful. Wasn't expecting the deaths of both Clark and specially Lois, so I think it was very bold of them to make a realistic ending. I'm really not a fan of main characters dying at the end, so it wasn't the ending I wanted (happy endings ftw), but it was beautifully executed and consistent with the show.

What a beautiful ending. This show has been an absolute gift and they just put a perfect bow on it and the whole era of CW shows going right back to Smallville.

That shot of the 5 of them soaring through the skies was so good to see. I loved that after Clark talks about legacy and a better tomorrow we don't see him fight super villains, we see him and Lois start a charitable foundation and open a hospital. Real, human, change for the better.

The deaths hit hard but that afterlife sequence was a perfect ending for the show. Seeing everyone again (little strange that Nat and Sarah didn't appear in it with John and Lana), forgiving Lex, and that reunion. Just a beautiful ending. And Tyler's monologue with it all just brings you to tears.

I would never have said no to more, but going out with a final battle against Lex and then Clark getting his happy ending if growing old with Lois, I don't think they could have done it better.

It was an emotional finale and very final so there was no possibility of a revival. Of course, they could still bring back the show is they ever wanted to revisit it simply by chronicling the missing 32 years that we didn't see.

It feels like the whole flash forward could've played out across the whole season. I wouldn't have minded seeing that. As he eventually lost his powers and became an ordinary old man, I would even have liked to have seen some people from a future generation not even believing the stories of how he used to be Superman and maybe wondering if that was just a myth or tall tale.

How old was he supposed to be when he died then?

Not surprising considering how Snyder's original ending to Superman's story would have been him raising Bruce's son with Lois to become the next Batman.

Tyler's portrayal really added an extra layer of humanity and maturity that we haven't seen in previous versions.

A wonderful way to end the series, though I wish it was 2-hours.

This show achieved comics accuracy through the Super Family and Doomsday.

The end of the an era as I look forward to James Gunn and his DCU that starts today with the Creature Commandoes. The upcoming Superman movie has a lot to live up to because Superman and Lois is now a hard act to follow.

Really enjoyed this finale and the series overall. The last 15 minutes of the show were very emotional and remarkably done. Although I enjoyed Smallville more as whole, I do believe Superman & Lois had the superior finale, and was a worthy successor of Superman's legacy on the small screen.

I really enjoyed this version of Lex, who was more rough and tumble as compared to the Wall Street Teflon CEO we saw in the TAS and Smallville. Also, Lois being the person who Lex had more animosity with than Clark was a nice twist.

With this comes the end of DC's remarkable run on the CW, it had its ups and downs, but was a hell of a run. This is likely the last series I will watch on the CW, a network that was my absolute favourite in the 2010s.

Very memorable shows like Smallville, Supernatural, 90210, Gossip Girl, The Vampire Diaries, Hellcats, Nikita, Ringer, The Secret Circle, Arrow, The Tomorrow People, The 100, Flash, iZombie, Riverdale, All American, and Superman & Lois.

So long, partner.

yessssssss

Within the limits of budget and time, this was a generally good finale. I liked the idea of devoting two-thirds of the story to wrapping up the Luthor/Doomsday plot and reserving the final third as an extended epilogue. A fitting farewell to the series — and to the CW/DC era more broadly. And probably the best finale among those DC shows.

But gotta say… Seeing ghost Lois glammed up in a sexy sequined evening gown struck me as unintentionally funny and distracting — and it took me out of the moment. Perhaps if ghost Clark was wearing a tuxedo (because the afterlife is formal dinner party?) Lois’s sartorial choice would have made more sense…

Watching some clips, I was reminded that that dress was the one Clark bought for her jounalism award by selling his baseball card collection.
