No description yet, but here's a promo:

When the titles were released, this ep was originally titled "Secrets and Lies."

This is likely going to pick up where episode 8 left off. I don't think the crossover will be acknowledged other than Superman and Lois' absence for Argo.

This episode is likely about Elvis and that song he sung. :o

What's the likelihood that Superman will return to earth with a 70s Elvis hairstyle and mutton chops?

Official description released:

COLONEL HALEY IS DETERMINED TO FIND OUT SUPERGIRL’S IDENTITY — Colonel Haley (April Parker Jones) is upset after Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) responds to a distress call from a Navy ship that turned out to be a deadly alien attack. Colonel Haley reclaims the site as DEO territory and demands that Supergirl step aside. After Supergirl refuses to be told what to do, Haley refocuses her energy on finding out Supergirl’s true identity and begins to interrogate all DEO agents, including Alex (Chyler Leigh). Meanwhile, Brainiac-5 (Jesse Rath) tries to persuade Nia (Nicole Maines) to embrace her superpowers but she misinterprets his motives. Rachel Talalay directed the episode written by Maria Maggenti & Gabriel Llanas (#410). Original air date 1/20/19.

I have a theory that the "distress call from a Navy ship that turned out to be a deadly alien attack" is caused by the Red Daughter. Assuming it's a US Navy ship it makes sense that the Russians would want to attack it. This would be a good way to bring the Red Daughter into the story, as problem for human/alien relations and a mystery that Kara has to solve.

I can't remember if Russian Kara has a Russian accent. I would hope she does.

We've never heard her speak English. The only time she's spoke, it's been Russian. So I would say an accent is likely when she does eventually speak English.

Speaking of Red Daughter, new promo with a shot of her (finally) in action:

I find the line...The WHOLE reason I became Supergirl was to save you. Talking to Alex... Seems to fly in the face of earlier episodes.
She came out of hiding so to speak to save Alex, but dont really think that is the WHOLE reason she became Supergirl.

This is the promo Kelly's referring to, for anyone wondering:

And for what it's worth, the line sounds edited down to me, but even then she doesn't say "the whole reason." Saving Alex was certainly the main reason...she might not have been happy with her status quo, but she had no plans of becoming a superhero until that moment. It just felt so great to her that she knew she had to keep doing it. I'm guessing in context, she's talking about weighing that against what the cost would be to Alex if she kept doing it (since Haley obviously finds out her identity), so it makes sense she'd phrase it that way. Like, "I did this in the first place to save you, not ruin you," or something to that effect.

That is certainly what I hoping is the case. Alex coming back with no, you became Supergirl to save us all....
Will take care of my misguvings or questions completely.....OOOOH and I like ur idea as well.

But for me its the
"The WHOLE REASON I became Supergirl...." just makes me REALLY HOPE that isnt all there is to that....because that would be a lets throw out all of the pilot episode again for a touchy/feely one liner that we thought sounded good at the time. So I hope one of us is right...and that isnt all there is.

Or she is using Alex in the scene to represent all of humanity. Still coming up with outs for them.....hope one is in there.

Now that they are going into the PI side of J'onn, it's time to start adding the characters to his side of the story, it's time that he is brought back into the central story.

The director being pissed that Supergirl is saving lives....how Amanda Waller of her.

Dammit, my DVR is being screwy and I missed the first half. But I see Haley is as infuriating as ever.

Wow, completely slipped my mind that this show was back tonight. Was mostly fixated on True Detective on Sunday nights, though should've remembered that the DCCW shows would be back soon with Flash starting back up last week. Well, will catch up on repeat.

Up here watching this game forgot this was on.

Well Alex and co. just crossed a line that hopefully leads to something interesting.

Erasing Alex's knowledge of Kara is like taking away her entire life.

Wow, did not see this development coming. Not sure how I feel about it, but it will certainly be interesting.

Great return episode from hiatus as the hook is Colonel Haley determining to discover Supergirl's identity and the twist at the end was something I didn't see coming. I doubt saving Alex was Kara's whole reason for being Supergirl.

Glad J'onn opens up a private detective agency much like his comics counterpart. I can see Supergirl and Dreamer joining up with him since Supergirl is still no longer with DEO.

The one thing about this episode that separates Supergirl from the other DCU shows is the government military alien angle and we saw some of that.

Glad to see Red Daughter again after not appearing in several episodes. It was the producers way of reminding us that she's not forgotten in the midst of other storylines.

Can't wait for Nia to try on her suit.

Glad to have Supergirl back on the air as I suspect the crossover was not acknowledged.

Actually it was. Kara said she just came from a world where Alex didn't know her, and she couldn't do that again.

EDIT: Now that I've gotten to see the beginning, she also mentioned talking to Clark about her current situation as she was doing at the beginning of Elseworlds.

I wasn't really a fan of the Alex mind wipe. Hopefully its very short term , like a couple of episodes, tops.

I'm guessing its a temporary plot point, as opposed to a long term attempt by the writers to "reset" or "reboot" the Kara/Alex relationship and pull the whole "I love the secret identity ,but hate the hero, and I don't know they're the same person'' Shtick and dynamic we've seen time and time again in the Superhero genre.

The episode overall was kinda filler for my taste.

Then again, I find Agent Liberty and that storyline much more compelling this season than the DEO fighting another alien of the week stuff.

I think the stories continue to be better written this season than any of the previous ones. It did give us a lot of backstory on Haley--enough to know she is more of a purist than thought. And gave us J'onn's future work too.

However, the last scene made the episode for me. In terms of acting and shock value.. it was so unexpected. Also, they have with that one scene raised the stakes.

I am not sure whether the Alex thing is a good thing or a bad thing. What if they plan to make her the season or series villain based on this? That'd be honestly my worst case scenario for the show.

However, if written well and if it ties well into the rest of the arcs--somehow leading to some breakthrough for Kara/Alex or both in CoTL, Manchester Black or the President thing--then, it could be a great story.

In context, I thought it made sense that Kara said that about becoming Supergirl. At least, that is how our minds work--It's true that Kara is a hero who would help everyone no matter their importance to her; but it is also true that at the time, Kara risked her identity for Alex's sake; and may be that is what came to her mind when the talk was of Alex forgetting all about her (who Kara is.. it is not just about Kara being SG after all, it is about her being alien, superpowers and almost half their life together).

Kara losing the key element in her support system is not good.

I thought the episode was pretty good. I do like this new development with the mind wipe. I think it will provide lots of interesting drama in the coming episodes. We've never seen Kara this alone with her secret so it should make for a good storyline, plus I'm curious to see what Alex is like without this knowledge, are they even still that close?
