Official description:
DAVID HAREWOOD DIRECTS - As Kara (Melissa Benoist) doggedly works as a reporter to clear Supergirl's name, Dreamer (Nicole Maines) picks up the slack as National City's protector, which leads to a showdown with Ben Lockwood (Sam Witwer). James (Mehcad Brooks) takes drastic measures to relieve his PTSD. David Harewood directed the episode with story by Dana Horgan and teleplay by Daniel Beaty & Jess Kardos (#419). Original airdate 4/28/2019.

They're stalling the Red Daughter storyline until the final two episodes.

Doesnt sound all that interesting, but I will wait and watch.

It sounds like the Guardian centric episodes of the last 2 seasons.

Aside from the 1st season with its smaller episode count, Episodes 19 and 20 of this show are typically filler. Though last year I thought "The Fanatical" was pretty good filler...but still filler. The others - "Alex," "City of Lost Children" and "Dark Side of the Moon"...didn't care for any of those.

Yep....I agree, and yes Fanatical was pretty good. Not real thrilled with their director choice for the finale....Teng was in town and was so hoping he was the finale director.

Who's directing the finale?

Aw, I like him. I think he handles the emotional stuff better than anybody who's worked on the show (like in "Red Faced," "Girl of Steel" and "The Faithful," as well as Kara's coma scenes with Brainy). He's less awesome at the action stuff (especially compared to Teng), but maybe the episode prior will be the more action-heavy one, since the last two eps are almost always essentially a two-parter.

Very possible, but the lack of Supergirl action has left me needing as much as possible this last 5 episodes....so I was hoping for Teng.

Understandable. I always hope for more Teng, lol.

Me too....maybe once Criminal Minds is gone we get more of him.

If they needed filler, why couldn't they have given us some filler with Izabela Vidovic as young Kara? I was hoping we'd get another episode with her and young Chyler.

At least Kara is doing some actual work as a journalist.

Not interested to see Jimmy getting powers though as he is clearly manifesting. He looks like he's going to turn into Bane!

I think we are getting that, just not this episode.

Have to say I would prefer a Dreamer episode to a Guardian episode. And fillers have to happen, and who knows here could still be a lot of Kara in it.

I agree....

Well, at least they didn't dwell on Dreamer admitting that she's trans...just one of many things. Because had that been a focal point, yeah, not sure I'd be up for that.

But at least there's been equal parts Dreamer, Kara, and Jimmy/DEO stuff this episode.

Good filler showcase for Brainiac 5, James, and Dreamer.

This season has been so good, but this episode was a total filler. Seeing Kara the reporter was pretty cool though.

I enjoyed the episode, I dont mind when it is just Kara, however not seeing the need for the James super stuff, I keep thinking and hoping for a relevation from him that he now understands his place in the world is not as a Superhero, but he has power through the press. I really think that may be a direction they go....if not, and he goes full on Superhero, that could be a nail in the coffin for me and this series .

I really liked Lena feeling that Kara has been ignoring her. That led to that great scene on the balcony. I think we may be getting close to Kara telling all to Lena. And her realizing that Heroes are supposed to inspire hope was pretty good too.

The Dreamer parts were good, despite the corny 'your worst nightmare' line. And it looks like love may very well be in the air for her and B5. (And I'm getting vibes between Alex and James' sister...)

Also liked that Lockwood's son is getting disolutioned with his father's movement. Be interesting to see if it survives the attack on his mother - or will he be smart enough to realize that it's retaliation for Ben's actions.

One thing I didn't like was James now having Superman level powers. Super strength, okay, but heat vision as well as super hearing and now flight?! 'We shall call him Super-J!'

I see they are dropping any subtlety in the Children of Liberty uniforms.
