Season 4, Episode 7: "A Regular Guy" (SPOILERS)

Didn't expect the genie to come out of the bottle like that, but it was a tense scene nonetheless!
 
Three shirt-rips, jimmy Olsen , the secret revealed to the world
 
A bit of a downer of an episode, just with the tone and everything. Things felt a little rushed as well but understandable. Not sure I was really crazy about this version of Jimmy either but hopefully we see a little bit more of him in these final few episodes.

Yeah, it was a fine episode, I get why they decided to reveal the secret, just not sure how I feel about it yet
 
Yeah, the episode itself was just fine overall, but Clark revealing himself in the Diner will definitely go down as one of my favorite scenes in the show especially the lack of music and the slow-motion bullet effect.

I also had no idea there are only three episodes left but man has this season gone by quick. I'm honestly not ready for it but at the same time I'm super curious to see how they are going to wrap this up.
 
Interesting, I actually really loved this one. The only real issue I had was the implication that Clark and Jimmy never got to be real friends at the planet. Their scene at the end was lovely.

Tyler in particular was wonderful in this episode. The relief he felt at the end when everyone in the diner greeted him like regular ol' Clark was palpable. Those last few minutes got me surprisingly chocked up.

Also, lmao at Clark's no-more-secret-identity normal clothes being just a little cooler and sexier than Old Clark's. I see you Wardrobe Department! And I applaud you. :hehe:
 
These last couple of episodes felt like a return to form for the series. This one in particular was really something special in that it had all the magic and charm I'd come to expect from such a wonderful cast and crew. Bonus points for giving Cudlitz the day off!
 
It wasn't a bad episode and we'll see what happens after this but everything was a little to nonchalant with Clark coming out.

Everyone acted normal about finding out Supermans identity and the implications it could have.

Jimmy played such a non role that for such an iconic character they might as well have just kept him off the show. He didn't add anything that Mecahds version did. At least there he's supposedly his bff.

Wasn't a fan of Kara outting herself. Wasn't a fan of Oliver outting himself. If these remaining episodes don't play out how i think....won't be a fan here though it was done much better than the previous two
 
It didn't come off as nonchalant to me, it just felt understated. Gracefully so from my perspective.

I really really loved this one. It was such a beautiful character study of Clark's experience of having a secret identity from such a young age, and Tyler was phenomenal in both the comedic and more dramatic moments.

The diner scene was just... chefs kiss! I was so happy to see Emmett back, I'd always thought the diner scene felt like a set up for some consequence later on.
 
I remember speculating back when the series first started that they may one day do the reveal (Truth had just happened in the comics) but I hadn't thought about it since then until a few weeks ago when they started to show that the people of Smallville had figured it out.

Honestly, great episode and I think they handled it really well. That scene in the diner, when Clark makes his choice and takes off the glasses, will go down as one of the most iconic moments of Superman on film. Tyler has absolutely knocked it out of the park and will be remembered as one of the greats.

Can't wait to see how they wrap everything up.
 
I loved the reveal scene, very emotional. Loved how sensible is the subject of secret identity to Clark, and both Tyler and Bitsie keep their chemistry on point (best super couple ever, maybe?) What I don't like is, of course, the limited budget with the supporting characters. A big moment like this and no John, Lana, Sarah... really miss them being more present but we all expected this.

Agreed. I already loved Hoechlin's portrayal, and this all but solidified him as my favorite live-action Clark Kent/Superman by a country mile.
 
I thought Clark genuinely needed his glasses and that it's not just a disguise but is a convenient disguise as part of something he already wears. There would be no harm in him still keeping them on. Does this mean they just had non prescription glass in them all this time?

In the diner, he could have used his breath to blow the bullet off course and make it seem that Emmett missed. That's what other Clarks would have done. It seems like he simply chose not to because he didn't want to hide anymore, not that he couldn't have stopped it without it bouncing off his chest.
 
Highly amused by Jon’s girlfriend’s father playing the victim, as though he didn’t beat up Jon and pull a gun on Lois in the first place.

You messed with the family of the most powerful being in the universe. You should be grateful he has a good heart or he could’ve just torn you in half.
 
Late to the party but this episode highlighted the heart and soul in this series. Easily the best episode of the season. Tyler came into his own here and really enjoyed the tough dynamics to do with being a local smallville man, father and the duality that comes with being Superman. That cafe scene with the flashbacks at the daily planet was everything. Last few episodes have been on a steady incline to the peak of the series.
 
Though it's a good filler, Tyler set the bar for David Corenswet for Clark Kent.

I'm gonna have to disagree there, I think a) if the bullet had been blown away it still would have been obvious he'd done something, and b) Emmett would have just continued firing, creating more danger someone could get hurt.

I think in those few moments, where you see Clark resigning himself to the inevitable, he'd thought everything through. He'd seen it would be pointless to fight it, that the cat was out of the bag no matter what, and he may as well surrender with dignity.

I think any Clark would have done the same.
