    my 2cents...

Its not time travel. Ned heard him and NK and Hodor saw him when they shouldnt have , but he's not physically there for everyone to see and interact with. Its not like the time travel in say, Terminator.

Its more a form of vision magic, which is hardly a new idea in fantasy.

Not sure why people are having a problem with this in a story that has reanimated corpses, Frankenstein, fairies throwing holy hand grenades, and from the beginning has been building a subplot of the coming medieval zombie apocalypse.

The story opened with WWs, so Ive always kind of expected it to end with them. Hardhome pretty much told you where the story was heading.

IMHO the Tyrells and Lannisters have doomed themselves, and Im expecting Daeny to waltz into the throne room and plant her pretty butt on the throne with all her enemies dead. The final showdown will be with the White Walkers not the remaining lords of Westeros, who continue to destroy themselves.

Wait, Hodor actually saw Bran when he was seizing? My friends seem to think that and also that he saw his own death. I'm not on board with either of that.

well i hate to say it, in a way he was kinda essentially comic relief early on. but i grew to like him because he was one of the few people on the show who was good and loyal and had no ulterior motives. he didn't play the game

I like that this was well planned far in advance making us comfortable with dumb Hodor all these seasons with no inkling of the awesome and tragic ending to come. This is one of hopefully many good payoffs we get from now till the end of the show.

Remember when Bran says "Father" seeing young Ned, we see Neds POV and theres nothing there. Ned just thinks he heard something. Hodor clearly sees Bran.

But I dont think Hodor was aware of his own fate, or saw his death.

Bran was seen twice, both times when 3ER wasnt with him. I think the Nights King saw him because he possesses powerful magic. I think Hodor saw him and seized because Bran was warged in Hodor at the exact moment when "Hold the Door" was unintentionally imprinted on him using vision magic.

Why did you post this you monster?!!! :waa: (I'm being hyperbolic, I don't actually think you're a monster!)

I'm glad to see so many other people who are also sad about Summer - my friend and I thought we were being stereotypical soppy girls. :oldrazz:

If anything happens to Ghost I will rage.

Hodor...as upsetting as it was, I loved the way it was executed, and he got to go out heroically, which he deserved. Unlike poor Osha :csad:

Thank goodness for Tormund and Brienne, or Tormienne as I believe the shipper name goes...

I wouldn't have minded if Summer had put up more of a fight, could have been a good sacrifice scene like Leaf's. A direwolf doesn't seem to do much better than a child. The death squeal came less than a second after jumping into the fray.

i thought it was a pained squeal seeing as how it immediately got bludgeoned

I don't know how it could have happened any other way under those circumstances. The wolf was going to protect the "lair" and there was an overwhelming number of wights coming into it. And biting doesn't do much to relentless creatures which don't bleed. He can rend, but not with so many foes on him.

Putting a more positive spin on it, I'm actually just going to stare at the gif of young Bran and puppy Summer and let the cuteness cheer me up :yay:

I agree - but I suppose it was marginally better than Shaggydog, who died off-screen. At least it wasn't as bad as Grey Wind's death. He went out fighting in the book but was just executed whilst trapped in a pen on the show...I'm going to get upset again if I think too much about that *stares at cute Bran/Summer gif*

I love Drogon, Rhaegal and Viserion but am disappointed if the cost of the CGI for showing them meant they had to kill off the direwolves.

Leaf's sacrifice - I'm guessing she wanted to get the wights into as big a mass as possible, rather than just tossing her cusser and risk killing only a few of them?

If there is any mysticism to these direwolves and any reason to fear them above regular wild animals I would have hoped at least his first jump at them would have taken a few of them out. The giant seems to do fine against them in Hardhome and of course it's not quite comparable but this just strips away even more of whatever makes a direwolf so special compared to any old wolf. Plus if it was only going to last one second it was strategically a stupid sacrifice (unlike Leaf's which slowed them down) and it should have fled to protect Bran and co later on.

Yes despite my complaints it's one of the better direwolf deaths so far.

It's very painful when budget has an impact on this series even after all this success. Understandable of course but a real shame that certain elements aren't quite as good as they could be.

Yes she did really well, an intelligent sacrifice which definitely helped. She was even enduring multiple attacks while waiting for them to pile up before letting it explode. I like the design of the children btw. What did others think of it?

Really good, so glad they invested and we didn't get what was in the Season 4 finale.

Would like to see more of the children but I'm assuming they all died in the attack.

I loved these designs. The season four ones were incredibly underwhelming.

Yeah be a shame if that's the last we see of them. I can't remember what they looked like in season 4. And I saw a behind the scenes video recently where the actors were saying it takes 10 hours to get all the makeup and prosthetics done before shooting!

Oh I had got the idea people weren't impressed with them from somewhere but it seems it was just for the season 4 versions.

Yeah Season 4's design of them were basically child actors painted green, with tussed up hair and earthy clothes and dubbed over by an adult's voice. Whereas in the books they look more like their Season 6 appearance, a cross between cat-like and deer-like, and not especially child looking aside from their size. Plus the actress who played Leaf seemed to be pretty good, so it was a nice combination of a better design and a better performance.

Yeah, reminded me of suicidal Japanese soldiers in WW2 with their hand grenades or satchel charges. The wights were following en masse so it seems to me that a bomb thrown behind the front rank might have done about the same, but who knows. Sad waste of an immortal (or dang-near) IMO. I was hoping Leaf and Bran would hook up later. :oldrazz:

I liked the design! I like the design of damn near everything in Game of Thrones -sets, costumes, creatures.

I thought about her sacrifice when I rewatched it last night and it makes some logical sense. The wights go for living flesh. If Leaf had simply thrown the grenade the wights would have entirely ignored it and ran past it. She wanted them to come to the grenade and to swarm it. The only way to get them to do that was for her to hold onto it and get them to come swarm her. Very heroic and selfless.

Ill miss her and the Children if they are all gone from the the world. Them standing alongside men in the final battle would be nice.

Oh and when the Night's King touched the ground and caused it to crack and the cave ceiling to crack did anyone else get the ominous feeling that he is going to do that to the Wall and it will crack and come crumbling down? Bran is marked and Im guessing if he crosses the Wall the Night's King will be able to cross it the same way he was able to cross the barriers of the cave after he marked Bran.

I can totally see this massive wight army arriving at the Wall and the Night's King walks forward and kneels down and touches the ground. The ground shakes and cracks and a fissure runs to the wall. Nothing seems to happen at first. The Night's Watch watches from atop the wall in cofused silence then there is the sound of ice rending, breaking, and ice rubbing against ice. Then the wall begins to shatter and crack and come down.

I remember now, just seen some images of them. Huge improvement! They have real character to their look, it seems way more authentic. Yeah the actress did well too.
They all stopped to attack her for a while before it blew up and that gave the others more time plus blowing up behind the front lines doesn't stop the front ones getting to the vulnerable Meera and unconscious Bran. She took out the whole of the front rank and more behind! She went out in style but it's a shame we won't see her any more.
