Last one before the hiatus and hopefully the end of this damn Phantom Zone arc.

When TVline is being snarky about your season....you know there's problems because they are not hard to please.

I said it before, but it really sucks that one third of the final season is dealing with this whole Phantom Zone arc. I know they had to work around Covid and Melissa's leave but the second half of this season really needs to bring the A-game.

So they all go to the Phantom Zone to rescue her? But what if they get stuck there and then the rest of the season takes place with them all in the Phantom Zone trying to escape?

I understand the sentiment but I also want to give TPTB and the writers due credit for coming up with a solution to real world challenges that kept the storyline connected to Kara. It wasn’t an option to wait for Melissa to finish maternity leave which wouldn’t have been any different without COVID. Personally I can’t come up with a better storyline. We’ll never know but my gut says the plan for Melissa’s pregnancy and maternity leave was always for Kara to be sent to the Phantom Zone.

Okay, I will admit that the balloons in Brainy's vision did make me laugh.

Brainy's balloons are totally his Anya/bunnies moment but I'm not mad about it.

What I am mad about is that Kara had maybe 3 minutes of screentime in this little "finale," but I guess since it was never intended to be any type of finale, it's not really their fault. Still, as a wrap-up to the way-too-long PZ arc, those last few minutes were REALLY anti-climactic. Like, they could've trimmed a couple of minutes off of the nightmares and spent more time on Kara's rescue and the reunion with everybody. That was so rushed, they didn't even cut to everyone's reactions, ffs! I would've enjoyed this episode as a cool little bottle ep if it wasn't meant to wrap up a major arc, but it's like the actual wrapping up was a total afterthought. Oh well. I'm glad this arc is finally over, and I look forward to seeing what kind of shenanigans Nyxly gets up to in August, and mainly just Kara being back with everybody and being the star of her own show again.

Kara was hardly in the first half of this final season. That was little screentime for her after being absent for the last two episodes.

So, what about Zor El?
One minute, he is determined to never give up.
Next thing she is saved. No mention of him.
Whats up?
We are just supposed to assume that he was in Kara's mind?

No, they both flew up to the ship together. He came back with Kara, and will now be joining them on Earth (him acclimating to Earth life was in the preview for the next eps). I don't blame you for missing this since Kara's return got 5 whole seconds of screentime. /not bitter

I hate that both of Karas are alive. Never been a fan of so many kryptonians surviving.

Wow, a total nothing episode for me. The nightmares were clearly there just to get this episode the runtime it needed and Kara's return really was shortchanged. Probably my least favorite episode of this season and arguably one of my least favorite episodes overall.

The tease for the second half at least looks interesting. Three and a half month hiatus is going to feel extra long but I'll be glad to have Superman and Lois back.

Boy, the editing of going to commercial after each and every vision was annoying.

I too thought Kara was in this way too little and that all the nightmares went on far too long. Couldn't they have filmed more with Melissa?

I wanted to see the rest of them greeting her and also wondering who was the first she brought on board. I would've also liked to see them return to earth and have an epilogue where Kara is glad to be back. Also I thought the sun bomb was going to give her powers to fight off the phantoms not just to fly to the ship.

Not a very satisfying conclusion at all.

Also what if the midseason finale ended on a cliffhanger with Lena kissing Kara instinctively without thinking after not seeing her for so long?

They were a talking up so much about how the Phantom Zone is so dangerous and the mission is so risky, but the only risk they faced was with the Phantom that was already on board... Cut out the nightmare scenes, which subjectively happened all at the same time and in only a few minutes, and they literally just flew into the PZ, detonated the sun bomb, and then flew out again. Apparently not all that risky at all.
Would have been so much better if say the ship crashed, and they were actually fighting Phantoms and other PZ prisoners while trying to reach Kara. Felt like a waste, and then they get Kara back in the last ten seconds. Or even less! Very anti-climactic. Kind of like the last episode of Voyager...
Here's to hoping the second half of the final season really nails it!
