Whichever Flash he means to die, it would seem a bit off for him to approach this Barry Allen if the Monitor meant to say a different Flash would die; he has the ability to travel the multiverse, so why would he specifically speak to our Barry Allen if he wasn't expecting him to be the one to sacrifice himself?

I do suspect that in order for the anti monitor to be defeated, a combination of speedforce energy, in addition to Kryptonian might must be sacrificed; that's what happened in the comics with Barry & Kara, so it seems logical to assume it'll be Earth-90's Flash and KC Superman who will be the sacrifices, thus freeing up Barry and Kara to continue on with their shows. I wonder if the Monitor is going to jump over to Earth-38 anytime soon, and tell Kara that she'll die too.

I'm also wondering, regarding the Monitor... last seasons final of Supergirl showed (what appeared to be) the Monitor freeing John's brother so that he may exact his revenge. That doesn't seem like a Monitor thing to do, so I'm wondering whether both the Monitor and anti-monitor look exactly the same, and that it was the latter who freed John's brother, else why?

To me, the Monitor seems to be using an incomplete truth to manipulate Barry, as if the plan depends on Barry committing to (but not necessarily following through with) another self-sacrificial gesture. Like, maybe Jay is the real key to saving the multiverse, but Jay is not impulsive enough to sacrifice himself unless it's to save Barry from doing something self-destructive again. I'm not saying that I think this specific scenario is going to happen; I just mean that the Monitor seems to be someone who should not be trusted even when we're certain he's telling the truth.

I gave this a 7/10 it was an alright episode...I liked how they showed barry to easily outspeed godspeed.

In the comics godspeed would be faster than RF....but in the show barry was playing around with a grin on his face when godspeed was in the lead, and then barry blasted by him was able to do circles on a building and still meet godspeed head on laying him out....an example showing barry is much faster than godspeed....So in the series is godspeed meant to be much slower than in the comics OR is it an example of the writers show casing that barry is the fastest but holds back, much like superman does.

either way it was not too bad, a good start for the season and hopefully the rest of the episodes will be interesting and exciting to watch.

That may very well be the case, but the Godspeeds we’ve met are mere clones or some other monstrosity and not actually Godspeed, so maybe the real one will be far superior and will provide Barry with more of a challenge.

Tbh, the show has had better premieres. It covered a lot of ground but I don’t think it was the best episode storytelling-wise. Pretty scattered. What I care about is the CRISIS stuff and I’m glad that 5 seasons later, we’re finally getting to this arc after the Pilot’s end sequence tease. It seems now that this episode is out of the way, the CRISIS stuff will begin to play. I’m just hoping it’s unraveled nicely so that the stakes, weight, and intensity feel appropriate. The show easily gets lost in b or c plots and that’s what I fear. But I’m on board and crossing fingers...

Bloody fun opener... LOVED the use of the Queen song, specially the beats when they didn't know if Barry was coming out of the black hole.

IIRC, technically that was the 'real' Godspeed... i believe the face you saw was the actual actor they use on set for him.

Bloodwork is both bland and rather... understandable. he's angry and grieving... so he's not thinking straight.

Overall, the best of the new show openings so far

The real Godspeed would surely be the one we saw from Nora's future, and he's not the same person we saw here. I may be wrong too, but unless I'm mistaken, Godspeed is the only mainstream speedster villain they haven't used properly yet, so I hope they don't ruin him.

Reverse Flash, Zoom (which technically is another Reverse Flash - at least in the comics) and Savitar (which unfortunately turned out to just be Barry) were the main three from the comics, right? We've had Black Flash / Back Racer too, and we wont mention The Rival, cause he was ruined. Who's left? Colbolt Blue? I remember that name being thrown around back in Season 1 as who Eddie Thawne would become or something?

This was a fun episode. Interested in seeing how Godspeed actually plays into things.

Chester Runk was actually fun. I hope they don't make him annoying.
