Season 7: THE END?

Gough said like over a year ago 7 seasons would be the max.

He's made recent comments that they're not ruling out more seasons but it's everyone's assumption that if that were to occur it'd cease to be Smallville and shift into an all-new series.

Can there be a SMALLVILLE without Mike as Lex Luthor? I doubt it, which makes me think that this next season is truly the last.

Agreed Rosenbaum is what makes Smallville awesome . Without him the show wouldn't have gone as far as it has .

Another thread?

Lex Luthor isn't necessary, and Rosenbaum isn't the only talented actor.

Clark Kent is the main character, and without Welling/CK you can't go on.

Lex Luthor's story from the begining was way more cooler than Clark Kent . Roesenbum is the Best Actor on the show period . (Why do you think he's won the saturns award twice ?)

Yeah Clark is the main guy, (But his story TPTB have messed it up.) My brother was right . They've made Clark Kent to cool as a teenager. That it's going to be very hard for TPTB to make the transformaton believeable from farmboy to Mild Mannered Reporter . Not to mention almost every freaking important person's (Lex Luthor, Jimmy Olsen, Perry White etc .) he's suppose to meet in the future inculding his wife to be Lois Lane, has seen him without "The Glasses" on his face.

However Lex's journey from a good guy to Super villian Criminal Mastermind was careful done right .

Do you think enough people would have been interested in a Lex Luthor only show? I don't think so, Lex Luthor on SV is a great character we all know that, and as good as Mikey is, I don't think either of them are that strong enough to carry their own show, not for long at least.

Clark Kent/Superman can survive without Lex Luthor, Lex Luthor can't.

Don't honestly blame him, since I think he has a great shot at making it into the film business. Great actor.

no lex/micheal is apart of smallville it really isnt smallville without him.

The show would be different without Lex,but it can carry on without him. After all the show is about how Clark transforms into the Man of Steel and eventually Lex will have to leave the town of Smallville.I will miss Mike, but the show can live without him.

As for season 7 being the last season,I strongly believe it will be but I'm not ruling out the possibility of more seasons. But for more seasons to happen they will have to retool the show which means getting rid of some characters who have been with it since the beginning(including Lex,Lana, and Lionel). As I said I doubt it will go more than 7 seasons, but that interview with Mike also brought up a good point. He said although season 7 is his last season,he said that he thought that some of the actor's contracts don't end next season which if that is the case I am sure Welling's contract is one of those. So if that is true the show will be going on for more seasons.

Regarding a 7th season, if you had asked me a season or two ago, I might have agreed that 6 would be a good time to wrap things up. But honestly, with how great this season has been so far, particularly when it comes to Clark's progression, as well as the other characters, I say bring it on. I'll have to decide during season 7 if I want a season 8 or not. :) But I do think they could pull it off, if they continue to makes these leaps in driving Clark to his ultimate destiny - and they continue to shake up the norm in terms of their other characters, locations, storylines.

No, he's not knocking at the door of the FOS yet, or wearing any tights, but more and more we are seeing the man he will become, the self-confidence, the quick-thinking, the depth of his empathy and caring for others... THAT is the development that is the REAL heart of this show.

I want a shirt-rip as much as anyone else, at the end of the series, but until then, I want to see more of Clark's emotional evolution.

Here here, I'd like them to make it last as long as they can.

The show could go on without LEX very easy actually all they have to do is introduce a new badguy to rival Clark.
And as far as everyone knowing who Clark is without the glasses I say "use your imagination!" The show is a "RE-IMAGINING" or the Superman storyline.
Just like all Comcis, Movies, and shows before, and after that deal with Superman it has it's own storyline, and it's STUPID for anyone to say well "Lois seen him without glasses how could she not know!?" remember she was also introduced to Clark alot sooner on this show then in past incarnations of Superman, and this is it's own storyline... Who is not to say that once Clark puts on the suit he isn't helped by Lois?
Maybe they are already in love, and she helps hide his secret... Just how Chloe now does.
The show is about Superman with an original take, and twist which is how EVERY show, movie should be.
If not we would get tired of watching the same stuff over, and over again...

And I agree with your agreement Avid. :oldrazz:
as the Brain would say "Quoted for Truth"

i think season 7 can be the best yet because they have something definite to work towards. i think this season is lacking that motivation that started in fallout. his goal should be going to train, he should be working towards that. he should want to find these zoners as quickly as possibe. instead we are getting fluffy soap opera episodes like crimson- not that i didn't like that episode but really as far as clark becoming his destiny there was really nothing there. i'm all for sub stories but his journey should be number one and i think they've lost track of that. thats why i loved oliver in the show, he pushed clark to see the big picture and what he should become. i think wrapping up in season 7 would be great and hopefully will have a strong kryptonian influence like the really successful series 5 did. i mean he was so upset the fortress was dead, it was raya's last wish for him to repower the fortress and he NEVER uses it.

rant over:cmad:

According to the production office here on the Lot, there is almost certain one last season next year.
Tom Has expressed his wanting to leave a while ago for film, and Michael as well so having one more full season is a gift for the fans but probably hard on the actors.
The series should end, its run its course.

oooh we got a selene and a serene now.....i propose a battle!

While I would love to see an 8th season, I can understand everyone wanting to move on...

I would miss seeing Tom being Clark every week, but I would look forward to seeing what else he would do afterwards...

He's gorgeous, smart and talented. I'm sure he'll be able to do whatever he wants.
