No such luck. It's basically a Senior Picnic. Volleyball, basketball, water slides. Not bad in general, but really ****ty for a Senior Trip.

A girl from a local school died while on a trip to Hawaii a couple of years ago. Since then, schools around here have been very wary of overnight outings. The 2 past years' trips have been day outings to Hershey Park.

Our HS didn't do anything. Our stupid principal thought it was "immature" for us to take a senior trip cause all we would do is have fun...which is what you're suppose to do.

In fact, our principal called the senior class in and told us that if we skipped on senior skip day then we would get 6 demerits, ISS, and we couldn't participate in graduation.

After that Natalee Holloway thing, a lot of schools are watching themselves with trips to exotic locales lately.

Same for us. We'd have to make up double the time we're out in staurday detention. So, like 10 hours total detention. And no graduation.

Also, same penalty if you take off the monday after prom.

Way back in 1992, our Senior trip was to someplace in Canada. I didn't go because my feelings were, I can't stand being near these people for 8 hours a day 5 days a week, I sure as Hell wasn't spending an entire weekend with them.

Why Cincinnati ?

There was a specific competition out director wanted to enter us in. Being as how NJ is a wasteland for HS music, we generally win anything we enter here (We've been one of the top 3 bands in the state for the last 9 years).

The middle of the country has a lot better bands, so he wanted us to be challenged. Ohio is the closest to being middle of the country we can get in a day's worth of driving (14 hours to be exact).

Yeah, I'm a band geek.
